Socket wrench extension with flange
View Patent ↗An extension for use with a socket wrench is provided. A drive socket is at a first end of the extension. A hexagonal drive surrounds the drive socket and extends from the first end of the extension towards a second end of the extension. A flange with a knurled edge is at a second end of the hexagonal drive. A tool gripping flange is between the flange with the knurled edge and the second end of the extension. A male drive is at the second end of the extension.
1. A socket wrench extension for use with a socket wrench, wherein the extension comprises:
a drive socket at a first end of the extension;
a hexagonal drive surrounding the drive socket that extends from the first end of the extension towards a second end of the extension;
a flange with a knurled edge at a second end of the hexagonal drive;
a tool gripping flange between the flange with the knurled edge and the second end of the extension, the tool gripping flange having a slot therethrough; and
a male drive at the second end of the extension.
2. The socket wrench extension, as recited in claim 1 , wherein a first end of the hexagonal drive is at the first end of the extension.
3. The socket wrench extension, as recited in claim 1 further comprising a second slot extending through the tool gripping flange, the second slot being perpendicular to and intersecting with the first slot.
4. The socket wrench extension, as recited in claim 1 wherein the slot passes through a longitudinal centerline of the extension.
5. A socket wrench extension as recited in claim 1 further comprising a shaft that extends between the flange with the knurled edge and the male drive, wherein the tool gripping flange is integrally formed with the shaft and is wider than distally and proximally adjacent portions of the shaft.
6. A socket wrench extension for use with a socket wrench, the socket wrench extension comprising:
a drive socket at a first end of the extension;
a male drive at a second end of the extension;
a tool gripping flange positioned between the drive socket and the male drive, wherein the tool gripping flange includes first and second pry slots that extend through the tool gripping flange, the first and second pry slots being perpendicular to one another and intersecting along a centerline of the extension.

A socket wrench extension as recited in claim 6 further comprising a second flange positioned between the drive socket and the tool gripping flange, second flange having a knurled, substantially circular circumference and a diameter that is larger than a width or thickness of the tool gripping flange.

A socket wrench extension as recited in claim 6 wherein the tool gripping flange has a substantially rectangular cross-section with rounded corners, the substantially rectangular cross section extending in width and thickness directions, whereby top and bottom surfaces of the tool gripping flange are substantially parallel.
