Abstract

A method of displaying a plurality of OHLC type symbols, each symbol having a time period of equal duration representative of changes in price, the method includes generating and displaying, by a charting engine, a first portion of the OHLC type symbols, in accordance with a first selected symbol rendering method, and generating and displaying, by the charting engine, a second portion of the OHLC type symbols, in accordance with a second selected symbol rendering method.

Claims (22)

1. A method of displaying a plurality of OHLC type symbols, each symbol having a time period of equal duration representative of changes in price, the method comprising:

using a computer device comprising a processor, a memory, and a network access interface, wherein the memory stores changes in price corresponding to a plurality of time periods and a charting engine;

generating and displaying, using the processor in operative communication with the charting engine, a first OHLC type symbol of the plurality of OHLC type symbols representative of a first time period of the plurality of time periods, in accordance with a first selected symbol rendering method; and

generating and displaying, using the processor in operative communication with the charting engine, a second OHLC type symbol of the plurality of OHLC type symbols representative of a second time period of the plurality of time periods, in accordance with a second selected symbol rendering method.

The method of claim 1 , wherein the changes in price are of a market-traded object representative of one of a physical asset, a digital asset, an asset pair, and a ratio between two different assets and the time period is one of an amount of ticks, an amount of volume, an amount of price range, and an amount of time between a fraction of a second and decades.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first selected symbol rendering method and the second selected symbol rendering method are selected from one of a candlestick, cross sticks, quadrilateral, triangle, HLC bars, dots, contiguous, right angle, slope OC, and slope HL.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the first selected symbol rendering method and the second selected symbol rendering method are selected from one of at random, a bullish symbol, a bearish symbol, and a trend change symbol.

5. An apparatus for displaying a plurality of OHLC type symbols, each symbol having a time period of equal duration representative of changes in price, the apparatus comprising:

a processing circuitry coupled to a network access interface and to a memory, the memory storing changes in price corresponding to a plurality of time periods and a charting engine;

the processing circuitry configured to

generate and display in operative communication with the charting engine, a first OHLC type symbol of the plurality of OHLC type symbols representative of a first time period of the plurality of time periods, in accordance with a first selected symbol rendering method; and

generate and display in operative communication with the charting engine, a second OHLC type symbol of the plurality of OHLC type symbols representative of a second time period of the plurality of time periods, in accordance with a second selected symbol rendering method.

The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the changes in price are of a market-traded object representative of one of a physical asset, a digital asset, an asset pair, and a ratio between two different assets and the time period is one of an amount of ticks, an amount of volume, an amount of price range, and an amount of time between a fraction of a second and decades.

7. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the first selected symbol rendering method and the second selected symbol rendering method are selected from one of a candlestick, cross sticks, quadrilateral, triangle, HLC bars, dots, contiguous, right angle, slope OC, and slope HL.

8. The apparatus of claim 5 , wherein at least one of the first selected symbol rendering method and the second selected symbol rendering method are selected from one of at random, a bullish symbol, a bearish symbol, and a trend change symbol.

9. A non-transitory computer readable storage medium having instructions stored thereon that, upon execution by processing circuitry, cause the processing circuitry to perform a method of displaying a plurality of OHLC type symbols, each symbol having a time period of equal duration representative of changes in price, the method comprising:

using a computer device comprising a processor, a memory, and a network access interface, wherein the memory stores changes in price corresponding to a plurality of time periods and a charting engine;

generating and displaying, using the processor in operative communication with the charting engine, a first OHLC type symbol of the plurality of OHLC type symbols representative of a first time period of the plurality of time periods, in accordance with a first selected symbol rendering method; and

generating and displaying, using the processor in operative communication with the charting engine, a second OHLC type symbol of the plurality of OHLC type symbols representative of a second time period of the plurality of time periods, in accordance with a second selected symbol rendering method.

The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 9 , wherein the changes in price are of a market-traded object representative of one of a physical asset, a digital asset, an asset pair, and a ratio between two different assets and the time period is one of an amount of ticks, an amount of volume, an amount of price range, and an amount of time between a fraction of a second and decades.

The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 9 , wherein the first selected symbol rendering method and the second selected symbol rendering method are selected from one of a candlestick, cross sticks, quadrilateral, triangle, HLC bars, dots, contiguous, right angle, slope OC, and slope HL.

12. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 9 , wherein at least one of the first selected symbol rendering method and the second selected symbol rendering method are selected from one of at random, a bullish symbol, a bearish symbol, and a trend change symbol.
