3. The display apparatus of claim 2 , wherein a depth of the recess is less than a thickness of the organic insulating layer.

4. The display apparatus of claim 2 , wherein the metal layer comprises a tip protruding toward a center of the groove from a point where a side surface of the organic insulating layer facing the recess and a bottom surface of the metal layer meet.

5. The display apparatus of claim 4 , wherein the intermediate layer comprises a functional layer, wherein:

in the display area, the functional layer is located between the pixel electrode and the opposite electrode, and

in the non-display area, the functional layer comprises a plurality of portions separated from each other at the tip.

6. The display apparatus of claim 5 , wherein the opposite electrode extends to the non-display area, wherein, the opposite electrode comprises a plurality of portions separated from each other at the tip in the non-display area.

7. The display apparatus of claim 2 , wherein a first vertical distance from a top surface of the substrate to a bottom surface of the recess of the organic insulating layer is less than a second vertical distance from the top surface of the substrate to a top surface of the organic insulating layer, and the top surface of the organic insulating layer contacts a bottom surface of the metal layer.

8. The display apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the organic insulating layer has an opening adjacent to the groove, and the metal layer contacts a top surface of an insulating layer under the organic insulating layer through the opening.

9. The display apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the insulating layer comprises an inorganic insulating material.

10. The display apparatus of claim 8 , wherein, in a plan view, each of the opening defined in the organic insulating layer and the groove has a loop shape surrounding the through hole of the substrate.

11. A display apparatus comprising:

a substrate having a through hole, the substrate including a display area surrounding the through hole and a non-display area between the through hole and the display area;

a display element in the display area of the substrate, the display element comprising a pixel electrode, an opposite electrode, and an intermediate layer between the pixel electrode and the opposite electrode;

a pixel circuit electrically connected to the display element;
