Abstract

A food product includes a shell containing multiple ingredients. The shell includes first and second shell portions attached to each other. The shell is configured to be dissolved or melted into a heated liquid to release the multiple ingredients in order to form a heated beverage. The multiple ingredients include cocoa mix configured to be dissolved into the heated liquid and multiple marshmallows configured to float on a top surface of the heated beverage.

Claims (44)

1. A food product comprising:

a shell containing multiple ingredients, the shell comprising first and second shell portions attached to each other; and

a solid base to which the shell is attached by an edible bonding agent;

wherein the shell is configured to be dissolved or melted into a heated liquid to release the multiple ingredients and the base and the edible bonding agent are configured to be dissolved or melted into the heated liquid in order to form a heated beverage;

wherein the multiple ingredients comprise cocoa mix configured to be dissolved into the heated liquid and multiple marshmallows configured to float on a top surface of the heated beverage;

wherein the first shell portion comprises at least one decorative feature disposed on an exterior surface of the first shell portion, the at least one decorative feature configured to be released from the first shell portion when the shell is dissolved or melted into the heated liquid; and

wherein the second shell portion does not include a decorative feature.

2. The food product of claim 1 , wherein each of the first and second shell portions has a shape of two hemispheres tangentially connected to one another.

3. The food product of claim 1 , wherein the first and second shell portions are formed from chocolate.

4. The food product of claim 1 , wherein the first and second shell portions are attached to each other by the edible bonding agent or another edible bonding agent.

5. The food product of claim 4 , wherein at least one of the edible bonding agent or the other edible bonding agent comprises chocolate.

6. The food product of claim 1 , wherein the food product is configured to resemble a character.

7. The food product of claim 1 , wherein the food product is configured to resemble a snowman.

8. A method comprising:

forming first and second shell portions;

placing multiple ingredients within at least one of the shell portions;

attaching the shell portions to each other to form a shell; and

attaching the shell to a solid base using an edible bonding agent;

wherein the shell is configured to be dissolved or melted into a heated liquid to release the multiple ingredients and the base and the edible bonding agent are configured to be dissolved or melted into the heated liquid in order to form a heated beverage;

wherein the multiple ingredients comprise cocoa mix configured to be dissolved into the heated liquid and multiple marshmallows configured to float on a top surface of the heated beverage;

wherein the first shell portion comprises at least one decorative feature disposed on an exterior surface of the first shell portion, the at least one decorative feature configured to be released from the first shell portion when the shell is dissolved or melted into the heated liquid; and

wherein the second shell portion does not include a decorative feature.

9. The method of claim 8 , wherein each of the first and second shell portions has a shape of two hemispheres tangentially connected to one another.

10. The method of claim 8 , wherein the first and second shell portions are formed from chocolate.

11. The method of claim 8 , wherein the first and second shell portions are attached to each other by the edible bonding agent or another edible bonding agent.

12. The method of claim 11 , wherein at least one of the edible bonding agent or the other edible bonding agent comprises chocolate.

13. The method of claim 8 , wherein the first and second shell portions together form a food product that resembles a character.

14. The method of claim 8 , wherein the first and second shell portions together form a food product that resembles a snowman.

15. A method comprising:

obtaining a food product comprising a (i) shell that contains multiple ingredients, the shell comprising first and second shell portions attached to each other and (ii) a solid base to which the shell is attached by an edible bonding agent; and

dissolving or melting the shell into a heated liquid to release the multiple ingredients and dissolving or melting the base and the edible bonding agent into the heated liquid in order to form a heated beverage;

wherein the multiple ingredients comprise cocoa mix configured to be dissolved into the heated liquid and multiple marshmallows configured to float on a top surface of the heated beverage;

wherein the first shell portion comprises at least one decorative feature disposed on an exterior surface of the first shell portion, the at least one decorative feature configured to be released from the first shell portion when the shell is dissolved or melted into the heated liquid; and

wherein the second shell portion does not include a decorative feature.

16. The method of claim 15 , wherein each of the first and second shell portions has a shape of two hemispheres tangentially connected to one another.

17. The method of claim 15 , wherein the first and second shell portions are formed from chocolate.

18. The method of claim 15 , wherein the first and second shell portions are attached to each other by the edible bonding agent or another edible bonding agent.

19. The method of claim 18 , wherein at least one of the edible bonding agent or the other edible bonding agent comprises chocolate.

20. The method of claim 15 , wherein the first and second shell portions together form a food product that resembles a snowman.

21. The food product of claim 1 , wherein:

the shell comprises a first shell;

the food product further comprises a second shell containing the multiple ingredients;

the second shell is attached to the first shell by the edible bonding agent or another edible bonding agent; and

the second shell is configured to be dissolved or melted into the heated liquid to release the multiple ingredients in order to form the heated beverage.
