Abstract

In embodiments of the present disclosure improved capabilities are described for a tag operating system configured to manage asset data exchanged between an RF reader and one or more asset RF tags, and an IoT connector core integrated with the tag operating system, where the IoT connector core transfers asset data collected via the RF reader from the one or more asset RF tags and delivers the asset data to an IoT system of a cloud platform over a data exchange protocol, and where the asset data was generated at least in part based on an endpoint intelligence function stored on the one or more asset RF tags.

Claims (39)

1. A system, comprising:

a tag operating system comprising a central processing unit (CPU) coupled to a memory, wherein the tag operating system is configured to manage asset data exchanged between a radio frequency (RF) reader and one or more asset RF tags, and

an Internet of Things (IoT) connector core integrated with the tag operating system, wherein the IoT connector core transfers asset data collected via the RF reader from the one or more asset RF tags and delivers the asset data to an IoT system of a cloud platform over a data exchange protocol,

wherein the one or more asset RF tags stores an endpoint intelligence function that performs, by the one or more asset RF tags, at least one of a compute operation, a logic operation, or a rule-based operation on data to generate the asset data, and

wherein the endpoint intelligence function is based on a rule and is transferred to the one or more asset RF tags from the IoT system.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the rule was transferred to the IoT system from a serverless compute system.

3. The system of claim 1 , wherein the rule results in an alarm indication based on an event criterion associated with the rule.

4. The system of claim 1 , further comprising a sensor communicatively coupled to the one or more asset RF tags, wherein the asset data was collected based on the endpoint intelligence function and on sensor data received from the sensor.

The system of claim 1 , wherein the asset data is transferred from the IoT system to a cloud application comprising an artificial intelligence system, wherein the asset data is used as an input to the artificial intelligence system for evaluation of the asset data in relation to the endpoint intelligence function.

6. The system of claim 1 , wherein the asset data is delivered from the one or more asset RF tags to the IoT system in real time.

7. The system of claim 6 , wherein the asset data is transferred from the IoT system to a dynamic database.

8. The system of claim 1 , wherein the asset data is historical sensor data about an asset or an environment of the asset.

9. The system of claim 1 , wherein the data exchange protocol is selected from one or more preferred connector protocols suitable for the IoT system.

10. The system of claim 1 , wherein the IoT system is selected by a user.

11. The system of claim 1 , wherein a sensed condition is an input to the endpoint intelligence function, and the endpoint intelligence function generates the asset data to reflect the sensed condition.

12. The system of claim 11 , wherein the sensed condition includes at least one of a sensed location, a sensed temperature, a sensed humidity, or a sensed vibration.

13. The system of claim 1 , wherein the endpoint intelligence function includes the compute operation.

14. The system of claim 1 , wherein the endpoint intelligence function includes an upload event criterion for uploading the asset data.

15. The system of claim 1 , wherein the data includes at least one of sensor data, data input by a user, or data downloaded to an asset.

16. The system of claim 1 , wherein the data includes raw input data and the endpoint intelligence function conditions the raw input data to generate the asset data.

17. The system of claim 1 , wherein the endpoint intelligence function performed by the one or more asset RF tags includes a rule-based maintenance monitoring process that indicates a fault condition of an asset.

The system of claim 17 , wherein the one or more asset RF tags performs the rule-based maintenance monitoring process to indicate the fault condition of the asset based on data provided by a sensor communicatively coupled to the one or more asset RF tags, and the fault condition is stored locally on the one or more asset RF tags for an upload event by the IoT connector core.

19. The system of claim 18 , wherein the upload event is defined by an upload event criterion stored on the RF tag.

20. A method, comprising:

exchanging asset data between a radio frequency (RF) reader and one or more asset RF tags through a tag operating system comprising an Internet of Things (IoT) connector core,

wherein the IoT connector core transfers asset data collected via the RF reader from the one or more asset RF tags and delivers the asset data to an IoT system of a cloud platform over a data exchange protocol,

wherein the one or more asset RF tags stores an endpoint intelligence function that performs, at the one or more asset RF tags, at least one of a compute operation, a logic operation, or a rule-based operation on data to generate the asset data, and

wherein the endpoint intelligence function is based on a rule and is transferred to the one or more asset RF tags from the IoT system.

21. The method of claim 20 , wherein the rule was transferred to the IoT system from a serverless compute system.

22. The method of claim 20 , wherein the rule results in an alarm indication based on an event criterion associated with the rule.

23. The method of claim 20 , further comprising a sensor communicatively coupled to the one or more asset RF tags, wherein the asset data was collected based on the endpoint intelligence function and on sensor data received from the sensor.

24. The method of claim 20 , wherein the asset data is transferred from the IoT system to a cloud application comprising an artificial intelligence system, wherein the asset data is used as an input to the artificial intelligence system for evaluation of the asset data in relation to the endpoint intelligence function.

25. The method of claim 20 , wherein the asset data is delivered from the one or more asset RF tags to the IoT system in real time.

26. The method of claim 25 , wherein the asset data is transferred from the IoT system to a dynamic database.

27. The method of claim 20 , wherein the asset data is historical sensor data about an asset or an environment of the asset.

28. The method of claim 20 , wherein the data exchange protocol is selected from one or more preferred connector protocols suitable for the IoT system.

29. The method of claim 20 , wherein the IoT system is selected by a user.

30. The method of claim 20 , wherein the endpoint intelligence function performed by the one or more asset RF tags includes a rule-based maintenance monitoring process that indicates a fault condition of an asset.

The method of claim 30 , wherein the one or more asset RF tags performs the rule-based maintenance monitoring process to indicate the fault condition of the asset based on data provided by a sensor communicatively coupled to the one or more asset RF tags, and the fault condition is stored locally on the one or more asset RF tags for an upload event by the IoT connector core.
