Abstract

A compound represented by formula (1) provides a high performance organic electroluminescence device and a novel material for realizing such an organic electroluminescence device: wherein R 1 to R 6 , a to f, L 1 to L 3 , and Ar are as defined in the description.

Claims (44)

1. A compound represented by formula (2):

wherein:

each of R 1 , R 2 , R 3 , R 4 , R 5 , and R 6 is independently an alkyl group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms or an aryl group having 6 to 18 ring carbon atoms;

a is an integer of 0 or 1;

b is an integer of 0 or 1;

c is an integer of 0 or 1;

d is an integer of 0 or 1;

e is an integer of 0 or 1;

f is an integer of 0 or 1;

adjacent two groups selected from R 1 , R 2 , and R 3 are not bonded to each other and do not form a ring structure;

adjacent two groups selected from R 4 , R 5 , and R 6 are not bonded to each other and do not form a ring structure;

Ar is represented by formula (g):

* is a bond to L 1 in formula (2);

each R is independently an alkyl group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms or an aryl group having 6 to 18 ring carbon atoms;

adjacent two Rs are not bonded to each other and do not form a ring structure;

q is independently an integer of 0 or 1;

r is independently an integer of 0 or 1;

(R) 0 means that R is not present;

one of R a and R b is an alkyl group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms and the other of R a and R b is a phenyl group, and R a and R b may be bonded to each other to form a ring structure;

each of L 1 , L 2 , and L 3 is independently a single bond or an arylene group represented by formula (ii) or (iii):

R is the same as defined with respect to formula (g);

q is independently an integer of 0 or 1;

when L 1 is represented by formula (ii) or (iii), one of * and ** is a bond to Ar in formula (2), and the other of * and ** is a bond to the nitrogen atom in formula (2);

when L 2 is represented by formula (ii) or (iii), one of * and ** is a bond to the phenanthrene structure in formula (2), and the other of * and ** is a bond to the nitrogen atom in formula (2); and

when L 3 is represented by formula (ii) or (iii), one of * and ** is a bond to the phenanthrene structure in formula (2), and the other of * and ** is a bond to the nitrogen atom in formula (2).

2. The compound according to claim 1 , wherein at least one of L 2 and L 3 is a single bond.

3. A material for organic electroluminescence devices which comprises the compound according to claim 1 .

4. An organic electroluminescence device comprising a cathode, an anode, and an organic thin film layer disposed between the cathode and the anode, wherein the organic thin film layer comprises one or more layers, the organic thin film layer comprises a light emitting layer, and at least one layer of the organic thin film layer comprises the compound according to claim 1 .

5. The organic electroluminescence device according to claim 4 , wherein the organic electroluminescence device comprises a hole transporting layer between the anode and the light emitting layer, and the hole transporting layer comprises the compound.

The organic electroluminescence device according to claim 4 , wherein the organic electroluminescence device comprises an anode-side organic thin film layer between the anode and the light emitting layer, the anode-side organic thin film layer comprises two or more layers, and at least one layer of the anode-side organic thin film layer comprises the compound.

7. The organic electroluminescence device according to claim 6 , wherein the anode-side organic thin film layer comprising two or more layers comprises two or more hole transporting layers, and a hole transporting layer closest to the anode comprises the compound.

8. The organic electroluminescence device according to claim 6 , wherein the anode-side organic thin film layer comprising two or more layers comprises two or more hole transporting layers, and a hole transporting layer closest to the light emitting layer comprises the compound.

9. An electronic device comprising the organic electroluminescence device according to claim 4 .

10. The compound according to claim 1 , wherein a is 0, b is 0, c is 0, d is 0, e is 0, and f is 0.

11. The compound according to claim 1 , wherein one of R a and R b is an alkyl group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms, and the other of R a and R b is a phenyl group.

12. The compound according to claim 1 , wherein one of R a and R b is a methyl group, and the other of R a and R b is a phenyl group.

13. The compound according to claim 1 , wherein Ar is bonded to L 1 at 2-position of a fluorene ring of formula (g).

14. The compound according to claim 1 , wherein Ar is bonded to L 1 at 2-position or 4-position of a fluorene ring of formula (g).

15. The compound according to claim 1 , wherein R a and R b are not bonded to each other to form a ring structure.

16. The compound according to claim 1 , wherein R a and R b are bonded to each other to form a ring structure.

17. The compound according to claim 16 , wherein R a and R b are bonded to each other to form an aromatic hydrocarbon ring or an aromatic heterocyclic ring comprising a ring heteroatom.

18. The compound according to claim 17 , wherein the aromatic hydrocarbon ring includes a benzene ring, and the ring heteroatom includes one selected from the group consisting of a nitrogen atom, an oxygen atom and a sulfur atom.

19. The compound according to claim 1 , wherein each of R 1 , R 2 , R 3 , R 4 , R 5 , and R 6 is independently an alkyl group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms or an aryl group having 6 to 12 ring carbon atoms.

20. The compound according to claim 1 , wherein formula (ii) or (iii) is represented by one of the following formulae:
