Abstract

Systems and methods for controlling rights related to digital knowledge are disclosed. A sample system may include an input system to receive digital knowledge from a user, a tokenization system to tokenize the digital knowledge and a ledger management system to create, manage, and store things on a distributed ledger and provide provable access to the digital knowledge. A smart contract system may create a smart contract including triggering action is and respond with a defined smart contract action on an occurrence of the triggering event. The smart contract system may also process commitments to the smart contract.

10. The knowledge distribution system of claim 1 , wherein the computer-executable instructions further cause the set of processors to:

analyze the generated one or more tokens, resulting in an analytic result; and

report the analytic result.

11. The knowledge distribution system of claim 1 , wherein deploying the smart contract comprises using a parameterizable smart contract template to generate the smart contract, wherein the smart contract comprises a parameter based on a type of the instance of digital knowledge.

12. The knowledge distribution system of claim 1 , wherein the instance of digital knowledge includes an instruction set.

13. The knowledge distribution system of claim 1 , wherein the fabrication equipment comprises a 3D printer, wherein the instance of digital knowledge comprises a CAD file.

14. A computer-implemented method comprising:

receiving data, using a digital wallet system, from a distributed ledger, wherein the distributed ledger comprises a plurality of blocks linked via cryptography distributed over a plurality of nodes of a distributed ledger network;

purchasing, with the digital wallet system, one or more tokens that are linked to an instance of digital knowledge, wherein the instance of digital knowledge is useable by fabrication equipment to fabricate at least a portion of a manufactured item specified by the instance of digital knowledge;

receiving, using the digital wallet system, the one or more tokens on the distributed ledger via a transfer of the instance of digital knowledge that is recorded in cryptographically-linked blocks that are verified and added to the plurality of blocks linked using cryptography;

wherein receiving the one or more tokens comprises communicating with a smart contract executed by the plurality of nodes of the distributed ledger network, wherein the smart contract comprises the one or more tokens and executable logic that when executed by the plurality of nodes performs the steps of:

managing ownership of the one or more tokens; and

managing access rights for the instance of digital knowledge;

receiving the instance of digital knowledge from the distributed ledger network; and

fabricating, using the fabrication equipment, at least the portion of the manufactured item based on the instance of digital knowledge that is linked to the one or more tokens.
