Abstract

A location system for locating workers including a plurality of light detectors mounted at known locations and configured to detect light from one or more workers, and a processing system configured to determine locations of the workers using the light detected by the light detectors. There is also disclosed a wearable device for locating a worker including a wireless transceiver, and a wearable device light source and/or one or more reflective elements. There is also disclosed a method for locating workers including detecting light from one or more workers using a plurality of light detectors mounted at known locations, and determining locations of the workers using the light detected by the light detectors.

a plurality of Infrared light detectors mounted at known locations and configured to detect Infrared light reflected from the reflective elements disposed on the plurality of people and/or the plurality of equipment;

one or more illuminating light sources configured to emit Infrared light, wherein the Infrared light reflected from the plurality of people and/or the plurality of equipment is light from the one or more illuminating light sources; and

a processing system configured to:

determine the locations of each of the plurality of people and/or each of the plurality of equipment using the Infrared light detected by the plurality of light detectors; and

control the activity of at least one of the plurality of equipment and/or output a warning signal based on at least one determined location of the plurality of people and/or at least one determined location of the plurality of equipment.

2. The location system according to claim 1 , wherein:

each reflective element is configured to further modulate the light to encode an identifier; and

the processing system is further configured to determine permissions of the plurality of people and/or the plurality of equipment using the identifiers encoded by the modulated light from the reflective elements; and

control the activity of the at least one of the plurality of equipment and/or output a warning signal based on the determined permissions of at least one of the plurality of people and/or at least one of the plurality of equipment as well as their determined locations;

wherein, optionally, the identifier is provided by a 2-dimensional bar code such as a QR code; and

wherein, optionally, the identifier is a unique identifier.

3. The location system according to claim 1 , wherein each reflective element is a retroreflector.

4. The location system according to claim 1 , wherein the processing system is configured to control the activity of the at least one of the plurality of the equipment by automatically moving the equipment.

5. The location system according to claim 1 , wherein the processing system is configured to control the activity of the at least one of the plurality of the equipment by automatically shutting down the equipment.

6. The location system according to claim 1 , wherein each of the plurality of equipment is one of a machine or robotic equipment.

7. The location system according to claim 1 , wherein the one or more light sources and plurality of light detectors are comprised by a radar system.

8. The location system according to claim 1 , further including a camera configured to receive image(s);

wherein the processing system is configured to perform analytics on the received image(s).

9. The location system according to claim 1 , further including a device for generating visual, audible, and/or tactile warnings;

wherein the processing system is configured to send an instruction to the device to generate a warning according to the at least one determined location of the plurality of people and/or the at least one determined location of the plurality of equipment.

10. The location system according to claim 1 , wherein the processing system is configured to compare the determined locations of the plurality of people to the determined locations of the plurality of equipment; and

output a warning signal and/or control the activity of each of the plurality of equipment based on the comparison of the locations of each of the plurality of people and the locations of each of the plurality of equipment.

11. The location system according to claim 1 , wherein the processing system is configured to determine a velocity of a person and/or movable equipment; and

adjust the activity of equipment in dependence on the determined velocity.

determine the locations of the plurality of people and/or the plurality of equipment in dependence of the timing data.

13. The location system according to claim 1 , wherein the processing system is configured to measure timing data of the Infrared light; and

determine the locations of the plurality of people and/or the plurality of equipment in dependence of the timing data;

wherein the timing data comprises time of flight data.

14. The location system according to claim 1 , wherein the plurality of people are workers.

15. A method of locating a plurality of people and/or a plurality of equipment comprising:

detecting Infrared light reflected from reflective elements disposed on the plurality of people and/or the plurality of equipment by a plurality of Infrared light detectors mounted at known locations;

emitting Infrared light by one or more illuminating light sources, wherein the Infrared light reflected from the plurality of people and/or the plurality of equipment is Infrared light from the one or more illuminating light sources;

determining locations of the plurality of people and/or the plurality of equipment using the light detected by the light detectors; and

controlling the activity of at least one of the plurality of equipment and/or output a warning signal based on the determined locations of at least one of the plurality of people and/or at least one of the plurality of equipment.
