Abstract

A method is provided. The method is implemented by an augmentation engine that is executed by a processor. The method includes detecting a target application hosted by a browser. The method includes augmenting features or functionalities into the target application by automatically embedding predefined automation augmentations into the target application without modifying a source code of the target application. The method includes executing a selected number of the predefined automation augmentations.

Claims (38)

1 . A method implemented by an augmentation engine executed by at least one processor, the method comprising:

detecting, by the augmentation engine, a target application hosted by a browser;

augmenting, by the augmentation engine, features and functionalities into the target application without modifying a source code of the target application by:

automatically embedding a robotic process automation icon into the target application,

providing a list of one or more predefined automation augmentations upon selection of the robotic process automation icon, each of the one or more predefined automation augmentations comprising a robotic process automation comprising agent software executing a job corresponding to one of the features and functionalities, the job expanding automation capabilities of the target application including automatic navigation within the target application, and

generating and adding an interface element independent from the robotic process automation icon upon selection of a predefined automation augmentation from the list by:

injecting the interface element into a presentation of a webpage of the target application without modifying the source code of the target application, and

tagging the interface element with a tagged robotic process automation, wherein the tagging comprises configuring the interface element upon an interaction to trigger an execution of the tagged robotic process automation independent of the target application; and

executing, by the augmentation engine, the predefined automation augmentation using the tagged robotic process automation upon interaction with the interface element injected into the presentation of a webpage.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the augmentation engine comprising a browser assistant configured to engage the browser hosting the target application and present one or more predefined automation augmentation.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein each of the one or more predefined automation augmentations comprises a software program feature created before the detection of the target application.

4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the one or more predefined automation augmentations comprises metadata identifying the target application.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the one or more predefined automation augmentations comprises a universal augmentation for embedding in the target application and a second target application.

6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the target application comprises a web application.

7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the robotic process automation is local to a computing system executing comprising the at least one processor executing the augmentation engine.

8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the robotic process automation is in a cloud system.

9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the augmentation engine comprises a software framework to manage, automatically execute, and operate the one or more predefined automation augmentation.

10 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the robotic process automation icon comprises a digital adoption platform interface.

11 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the injecting of the interface element into the presentation of the webpage of the target application provides a viewing browser code of the interface element separate from the source code of the target application.

12 . A system comprising:

at least one memory storing program code of an augmentation engine; and

at least one processor executing the program code to cause operations of the system, the operations comprising:

detecting, by the augmentation engine, a target application hosted by a browser;

augmenting, by the augmentation engine, features and functionalities into the target application without modifying a source code of the target application by:

automatically embedding a robotic process automation icon into the target application,

providing a list of one or more predefined automation augmentations upon selection of the robotic process automation icon, each of the one or more predefined automation augmentations comprising a robotic process automation comprising agent software executing a job corresponding to one of the features and functionalities, the job expanding automation capabilities of the target application including automatic navigation within the target application, and

generating and adding an interface element independent from the robotic process automation icon upon selection of a predefined automation augmentation from the list by:

injecting the interface element into a presentation of a webpage of the target application without modifying the source code of the target application, and

tagging the interface element with a tagged robotic process automation, wherein the tagging comprises configuring the interface element upon an interaction to trigger an execution of the tagged robotic process automation independent of the target application; and

executing, by the augmentation engine, the predefined automation augmentation using the tagged robotic process automation upon interaction with the interface element injected into the presentation of a webpage.

13 . The system of claim 12 , wherein the augmentation engine comprising a browser assistant configured to engage the browser hosting the target application and present one or more predefined automation augmentation.

14 . The system of claim 12 , wherein each of the one or more predefined automation augmentations comprises a software program feature created before the detection of the target application.

15 . The system of claim 12 , wherein at least one of the one or more predefined automation augmentations comprises metadata identifying the target application.

16 . The system of claim 12 , wherein at least one of the one or more predefined automation augmentations comprises a universal augmentation for embedding in the target application and a second target application.

17 . The system of claim 12 , wherein the target application comprises a web application.

18 . The system of claim 12 , wherein the robotic process automation is local to a computing system executing comprising the at least one processor executing the engine.

19 . The system of claim 12 , wherein the robotic process automation is in a cloud system.

20 . The system of claim 12 , wherein the augmentation engine comprises a software framework to manage, automatically execute, and operate the one or more predefined automation augmentation.
