Abstract

The present disclosure generally relates to providing user interfaces based on one or more use contexts and using a receiving device as a hub between the transmitting device and an accessory, where the receiving device establishes a secure connection with the transmitting device and the accessory and provides identifying information to the transmitting device that is typically associated with the accessory.

Claims (116)

1 . A first electronic device, comprising:

a display device;

one or more input devices;

one or more processors; and

memory storing one or more programs configured to be executed by the one or more processors, the one or more programs including instructions for:

receiving, via the one or more input devices, a request to display available wireless media receiver devices; and

in response to receiving the request, displaying, via the display device, a user interface for selecting a wireless media receiver for media from the first electronic device, including:

in accordance with a determination that a wireless connection to an accessory for receiving media via a wireless connection is available, displaying:

a first affordance for selecting the accessory to receive wireless media without displaying a second affordance for selecting a second electronic device that is connected to the accessory, wherein the first affordance for selecting the accessory to receive wireless media, when selected, establishes a connection between the first electronic device and the second electronic device that is connected to the accessory, and wherein the second electronic device is configured to transmit wireless media, based on user input detected via the second electronic device, to the accessory independent of the connection between the first electronic device and the second electronic device; and

a third affordance for selecting the first electronic device to output media; and

in accordance with a determination that a wireless connection to the accessory for receiving media via the wireless connection is not available:

displaying the third affordance; and

forgoing displaying the first affordance for selecting the accessory to receive wireless media, wherein the connection to the accessory for receiving media via the wireless connection is not available when no devices are connected to the accessory.

2 . The first electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the first affordance for selecting the accessory to receive wireless media includes an identifier that corresponds to the accessory.

3 . The first electronic device of claim 2 , wherein the request to display available media devices is a first request, and wherein the one or more programs further including instructions for:

receiving, via the one or more input devices, a second request to display available wireless media receiver devices; and

in response to receiving the second request, displaying, via the display device, a user interface for selecting a wireless media receiver for media from the first electronic device, including:

in accordance with a determination that a second wireless connection to an accessory for receiving media via a wireless connection is available, displaying the first affordance for selecting the accessory to receive wireless media,

wherein the first affordance for selecting the accessory to receive wireless media establishes a connection between the first electronic device and a third electronic device that is connected to the accessory, and

wherein the first affordance for selecting the accessory to receive wireless media includes the identifier that corresponds to the accessory; and

in accordance with a determination that a second wireless connection to the accessory for receiving media via the wireless connection is not available, forgoing displaying the first affordance for selecting the accessory to receive wireless media, wherein the connection to the accessory for receiving media via the wireless connection is not available when no devices are connected to the accessory.

4 . The first electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the one or more programs further include instructions for:

while displaying the first affordance for selecting the accessory to receive wireless media, receiving user input corresponding to a selection of the first affordance for selecting the accessory to receive wireless media;

in response to receiving user input corresponding to the selection of the first affordance for selecting the accessory to receive wireless media:

connecting to the second electronic device; and

while connected to the second electronic device, displaying an indication that the first electronic device is connected to the accessory.

5 . The first electronic device of claim 4 , wherein the one or more programs further include instructions for:

while connected to the second electronic device, transmitting media to the second electronic device for presentation via one or more output devices of the accessory; and

while transmitting media to the second electronic device for presentation via one or more output devices of the accessory, displaying an indication of the media that is transmitting to the second electronic device for presentation via one or more output devices of the accessory.

6 . The first electronic device of claim 4 , wherein the one or more programs further include instructions for:

while transmitting media to the second electronic device for presentation via one or more output devices of the accessory, receiving a request to cease transmission of media; and

in response to receiving the request to cease transmission of media:

ceasing transmission of the media the second electronic device that is connected to the accessory.

7 . The first electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the one or more programs further include instructions for:

while displaying the first affordance in accordance with the determination that the wireless connection to the accessory for receiving media via the wireless connection is available, receiving, via the one or more input devices, user input corresponding to selection of the first affordance; and

in response to receiving the user input corresponding to selection of the first affordance, establishing the connection between the first electronic device and the second electronic device that is connected to the accessory, wherein establishing the connection between the first electronic device and the second electronic device that is connected to the accessory includes:

in accordance with a determination that the first electronic device satisfies a set of one or more authorization criteria, transmitting the wireless media to the second electronic device that is connected to the accessory; and

in accordance with a determination that the first electronic device does not satisfy the set of one or more authorization criteria, forgoing transmitting the wireless media to the second electronic device that is connected to the accessory.

8 . The first electronic device of claim 1 , wherein:

the second electronic device includes an integrated input device, and

the second electronic device is configured to transmit the wireless media, based on user input detected via the integrated input device, to the accessory independent of the connection between the first electronic device and the second electronic device.

9 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing one or more programs configured to be executed by one or more processors of a first electronic device with a display device and one or more input devices, the one or more programs including instructions for:

receiving, via the one or more input devices, a request to display available wireless media receiver devices; and

in response to receiving the request, displaying, via the display device, a user interface for selecting a wireless media receiver for media from the first electronic device, including:

in accordance with a determination that a wireless connection to an accessory for receiving media via a wireless connection is available, displaying:

a first affordance for selecting the accessory to receive wireless media without displaying a second affordance for selecting a second electronic device that is connected to the accessory, wherein the first affordance for selecting the accessory to receive wireless media, when selected, establishes a connection between the first electronic device and the second electronic device that is connected to the accessory, and wherein the second electronic device is configured to transmit wireless media, based on user input detected via the second electronic device, to the accessory independent of the connection between the first electronic device and the second electronic device; and

a third affordance for selecting the first electronic device to output media; and

in accordance with a determination that a wireless connection to the accessory for receiving media via the wireless connection is not available:

displaying the third affordance; and

forgoing displaying the first affordance for selecting the accessory to receive wireless media, wherein the connection to the accessory for receiving media via the wireless connection is not available when no devices are connected to the accessory.

10 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 9 , wherein the first affordance for selecting the accessory to receive wireless media includes an identifier that corresponds to the accessory.

11 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 10 , wherein the request to display available media devices is a first request, and wherein the one or more programs further including instructions for:

receiving, via the one or more input devices, a second request to display available wireless media receiver devices; and

in response to receiving the second request, displaying, via the display device, a user interface for selecting a wireless media receiver for media from the first electronic device, including:

in accordance with a determination that a second wireless connection to an accessory for receiving media via a wireless connection is available, displaying the first affordance for selecting the accessory to receive wireless media,

wherein the first affordance for selecting the accessory to receive wireless media establishes a connection between the first electronic device and a third electronic device that is connected to the accessory, and

wherein the first affordance for selecting the accessory to receive wireless media includes the identifier that corresponds to the accessory; and

in accordance with a determination that a second wireless connection to the accessory for receiving media via the wireless connection is not available, forgoing displaying the first affordance for selecting the accessory to receive wireless media, wherein the connection to the accessory for receiving media via the wireless connection is not available when no devices are connected to the accessory.

12 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 9 , wherein the one or more programs further include instructions for:

while displaying the first affordance for selecting the accessory to receive wireless media, receiving user input corresponding to a selection of the first affordance for selecting the accessory to receive wireless media;

in response to receiving user input corresponding to the selection of the first affordance for selecting the accessory to receive wireless media:

connecting to the second electronic device; and

while connected to the second electronic device, displaying an indication that the first electronic device is connected to the accessory.

13 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 12 , wherein the one or more programs further include instructions for:

while connected to the second electronic device, transmitting media to the second electronic device for presentation via one or more output devices of the accessory; and

while transmitting media to the second electronic device for presentation via one or more output devices of the accessory, displaying an indication of the media that is transmitting to the second electronic device for presentation via one or more output devices of the accessory.

14 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 12 , wherein the one or more programs further include instructions for:

while transmitting media to the second electronic device for presentation via one or more output devices of the accessory, receiving a request to cease transmission of media; and

in response to receiving the request to cease transmission of media:

ceasing transmission of the media the second electronic device that is connected to the accessory.

15 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 9 , wherein the one or more programs further include instructions for:

while displaying the first affordance in accordance with the determination that the wireless connection to the accessory for receiving media via the wireless connection is available, receiving, via the one or more input devices, user input corresponding to selection of the first affordance; and

in response to receiving the user input corresponding to selection of the first affordance, establishing the connection between the first electronic device and the second electronic device that is connected to the accessory, wherein establishing the connection between the first electronic device and the second electronic device that is connected to the accessory includes:

in accordance with a determination that the first electronic device satisfies a set of one or more authorization criteria, transmitting the wireless media to the second electronic device that is connected to the accessory; and

in accordance with a determination that the first electronic device does not satisfy the set of one or more authorization criteria, forgoing transmitting the wireless media to the second electronic device that is connected to the accessory.

16 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 9 , wherein

the second electronic device includes an integrated input device, and

the second electronic device is configured to transmit the wireless media, based on user input detected via the integrated input device, to the accessory independent of the connection between the first electronic device and the second electronic device.

17 . A method comprising:

at a first electronic device with a display device and one or more input devices:

receiving, via the one or more input devices, a request to display available wireless media receiver devices; and

in response to receiving the request, displaying, via the display device, a user interface for selecting a wireless media receiver for media from the first electronic device, including:

in accordance with a determination that a wireless connection to an accessory for receiving media via a wireless connection is available, displaying:

a first affordance for selecting the accessory to receive wireless media without displaying a second affordance for selecting a second electronic device that is connected to the accessory, wherein the first affordance for selecting the accessory to receive wireless media, when selected, establishes a connection between the first electronic device and the second electronic device that is connected to the accessory, and wherein the second electronic device is configured to transmit wireless media, based on user input detected via the second electronic device, to the accessory independent of the connection between the first electronic device and the second electronic device; and

a third affordance for selecting the first electronic device to output media; and

in accordance with a determination that a wireless connection to the accessory for receiving media via the wireless connection is not available:

displaying the third affordance; and

forgoing displaying the first affordance for selecting the accessory to receive wireless media, wherein the connection to the accessory for receiving media via the wireless connection is not available when no devices are connected to the accessory.

18 . The method of claim 17 , wherein the first affordance for selecting the accessory to receive wireless media includes an identifier that corresponds to the accessory.

19 . The method of claim 18 , wherein the request to display available media devices is a first request, the method further comprising:

receiving, via the one or more input devices, a second request to display available wireless media receiver devices; and

in response to receiving the second request, displaying, via the display device, a user interface for selecting a wireless media receiver for media from the first electronic device, including:

in accordance with a determination that a second wireless connection to an accessory for receiving media via a wireless connection is available, displaying the first affordance for selecting the accessory to receive wireless media,

wherein the first affordance for selecting the accessory to receive wireless media establishes a connection between the first electronic device and a third electronic device that is connected to the accessory, and

wherein the first affordance for selecting the accessory to receive wireless media includes the identifier that corresponds to the accessory; and

in accordance with a determination that a second wireless connection to the accessory for receiving media via the wireless connection is not available, forgoing displaying the first affordance for selecting the accessory to receive wireless media, wherein the connection to the accessory for receiving media via the wireless connection is not available when no devices are connected to the accessory.

20 . The method of claim 17 , further comprising:

while displaying the first affordance for selecting the accessory to receive wireless media, receiving user input corresponding to a selection of the first affordance for selecting the accessory to receive wireless media;

in response to receiving user input corresponding to the selection of the first affordance for selecting the accessory to receive wireless media:

connecting to the second electronic device; and

while connected to the second electronic device, displaying an indication that the first electronic device is connected to the accessory.

21 . The method of claim 20 , further comprising:

while connected to the second electronic device, transmitting media to the second electronic device for presentation via one or more output devices of the accessory; and

while transmitting media to the second electronic device for presentation via one or more output devices of the accessory, displaying an indication of the media that is transmitting to the second electronic device for presentation via one or more output devices of the accessory.

22 . The method of claim 20 , further comprising:

while transmitting media to the second electronic device for presentation via one or more output devices of the accessory, receiving a request to cease transmission of media; and

in response to receiving the request to cease transmission of media:

ceasing transmission of the media the second electronic device that is connected to the accessory.

23 . The method of claim 17 , further comprising:

while displaying the first affordance in accordance with the determination that the wireless connection to the accessory for receiving media via the wireless connection is available, receiving, via the one or more input devices, user input corresponding to selection of the first affordance; and

in response to receiving the user input corresponding to selection of the first affordance, establishing the connection between the first electronic device and the second electronic device that is connected to the accessory, wherein establishing the connection between the first electronic device and the second electronic device that is connected to the accessory includes:

in accordance with a determination that the first electronic device satisfies a set of one or more authorization criteria, transmitting the wireless media to the second electronic device that is connected to the accessory; and

in accordance with a determination that the first electronic device does not satisfy the set of one or more authorization criteria, forgoing transmitting the wireless media to the second electronic device that is connected to the accessory.

24 . The method of claim 17 , wherein:

the second electronic device includes an integrated input device, and

the second electronic device is configured to transmit the wireless media, based on user input detected via the integrated input device, to the accessory independent of the connection between the first electronic device and the second electronic device.
