Abstract

The present disclosure relates to systems and methods for providing cybersecurity functionality to computer implemented inventions such as Internet of Thing (IoT) systems and object devices, and more specifically, to an improved cybersecurity system, method and capabilities for the protecting IoT and similar devices through non-discriminatory vendor/supplier independent distribution of secure predetermined IoT syndication data to unidentified and non-registered IoT devices, through the use of a passive data distribution technology and out-of-band, system-to-device distribution channel and no peer-to-peer stateless relationship with the receiving device and using Quality of Service (QoS) and enabling the determination as to whether there is any suspicious activity occurring and prohibiting the IoT device from taking any customer-defined action without have a separately provided authentication.

Claims (26)

1 . A self-contained, messaging system instrument for cybersecurity, comprising:

one or more instrument devices;

one or more instrument servers each comprising an instrument server database;

an instrument communication channel/bearer service comprising multiple redundant, simultaneous, out-of-band communication methods;

wherein, the one or more instrument devices monitor the messaging system for broadcast data over the instrument communication channel/bearer service, create an instrument reading, which instrument reading comprises the detected broadcast data, a timestamp, and parameters indicating the method and coding of the broadcast data, and sends the instrument reading to the one or more instrument servers; and

wherein the one or more instrument servers receive the instrument reading from the one or more instrument devices, log the instrument reading in the associated instrument server database, and employ one or more algorithms to assess the broadcast data, detect any system anomalies, and prepare and provide a system QoS report and a system alarm report, in case of the detection of any anomaly.

2 . The self-contained, messaging system instrument of claim 1 , wherein the one or more instrument servers are cloud-based.

3 . The self-contained, messaging system instrument of claim 1 , wherein the one or more instrument servers comprises at least two instrument servers, and each instrument reading is sent to more than one instrument server to provide redundancy in the case of a failure in the instrument server database associated with one of the instrument servers.

4 . The self-contained, messaging system instrument of claim 1 , wherein the one or more instrument devices are private devices and send each instrument reading exclusively and securely to a specific private instrument server.

5 . The self-contained, messaging system instrument of claim 1 , wherein the instrument server database associated with each instrument server comprises a relational database.

6 . The self-contained, messaging system instrument of claim 1 , wherein the instrument readings are logged, timestamped, correlated, and analyzed at the one or more instrument servers in accordance with user-provided instructions.

7 . The self-contained, messaging system instrument of claim 1 , wherein the system QoS report is customizable according to user-provided instructions.

8 . The self-contained, messaging system instrument of claim 1 , further comprising a translator subsystem for interacting with a local Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and translating an instrument service file into a format usable by a local device associated with the local PLC.

9 . The self-contained, messaging system instrument of claim 1 , further comprising a translator subsystem for interacting with a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system and translating an instrument service file into an encapsulated IP multicast file usable by a local device associated with the SCADA system.

10 . The self-contained, messaging system instrument of claim 1 , further comprising a harvester client engine in electronic communication with a network, the harvester client engine operating to obtain harvester data from sources internal and external to the instrument and generate a broadcasting-ready distribution package.

11 . The self-contained, messaging system instrument of claim 10 , wherein the harvester client engine comprises a system management module, one or more signal conditioners, an analytics module comprising one or more algorithms, and an encoding module.

12 . The self-contained, messaging system instrument of claim 11 , wherein the analytics module comprises artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms.

13 . The self-contained, messaging system instrument of claim 11 , wherein the encoding module comprises protocols for master shot encapsulation and special shot encapsulation.

14 . The self-contained, messaging system instrument of claim 13 , wherein the master shot encapsulation protocol is operable on data packets greater than or equal to 1200 bytes.

15 . The self-contained, messaging system instrument of claim 13 , wherein the special shot encapsulation protocol is operable on data packets smaller than 80 bytes.

16 . The self-contained, messaging system instrument of claim 11 , wherein the encoding module comprises protocols for one or more of data block ID code, two level data security, message identifier code specific to an authorized transport channel, billing code associated with traffic/service charges, broadcast and security restriction permissions, broadcast boundaries, multicast service center and network selection instructions, and connection between the broadcasting-ready distribution package and transmission network.

17 . The self-contained, messaging system instrument of claim 16 , wherein the multicast service center comprises a cell broadcast center (CBC) and the transmission network comprises a cell broadcast (CB) over a mobile transmission network.

18 . The self-contained, messaging system instrument of claim 16 , wherein the transmission network comprises a LoRaWAN transmission network.

19 . The self-contained, messaging system instrument of claim 16 , wherein the transmission network comprises a multicast over IP transmission network.

20 . The self-contained, messaging system instrument of claim 11 , wherein the harvester client engine obtains external harvester data comprising a user trust protocol.

21 . The self-contained, messaging system instrument of claim 1 , wherein the instrument comprises an instrument module for inclusion within a user device.
