Abstract

A digital camera is provided with a vertically long camera body having an approximately rectangular solid shape. An LCD panel provided in a rear surface of the camera body is arranged such that longitudinal directions of the display screen and the camera body correspond to each other. The digital camera is operated through a touch panel provided in a lower portion of the display screen. In a taking mode, an image is displayed in a small size on an upper portion of the display screen. In reproducing, the camera body is rotated sideways by 90 degree. In a reproducing mode, display posture of the image is also rotated by 90 degree, and the image is displayed in a large size on the entire display screen.

Claims (23)

1 . An apparatus comprising:

a body having a rectangular board shape;

a display panel provided on a first surface of the body, having a function of touch detection, and displaying a first key; and

a second key arranged on a second surface of the body, the second surface differing from the first surface,

wherein the first surface has a flat shape,

wherein the apparatus has plural operating modes, and

wherein in a specific operating mode among the plural operating modes, photography is performed by touching the first key, and

wherein the second surface is one side surface of the body, and the second key and a third key are arranged in the one side surface,

wherein when one of the operating modes changes into another of the operating modes, a function of the second key changes.

2 . The apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the specific operating mode is a taking mode for taking an image, and the second key on the second surface is a release key.

3 . The apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the second key and the third key are a release button and a function key.

4 . The apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the body has a third surface facing the second surface across a front surface of the body, and when the front surface of the body is covered with one hand and both the second surface and the third surface are gripped by fingers of the one hand, the second key and the third key can be operated by one of the fingers of the one hand.

5 . The apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the display panel displays a plurality of operation keys including the first key in an area not displaying a live view image taken by an image sensor for grasping.

6 . The apparatus according to claim 5 , wherein the display panel displays a plurality of operation keys including a flash control key in the area not displaying the live view image.

7 . The apparatus according to claim 5 ,

wherein the body has a longitudinal direction,

wherein the longitudinal direction has a first side and a second side opposite to the first side, and

wherein the first key is displayed on the first side relative to a center of the body, and an area displaying the live view image is displayed on the second side relative to the center of the body.

8 . The apparatus according to claim 7 , wherein a zoom key is displayed on the first side relative to the center of the body.

9 . The apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the display panel displays a plurality of operation keys including a flash control key in an area not displaying a live view image taken by an image sensor for grasping.

10 . The apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the plural operating modes have a taking mode for taking an image and a set-up mode for various setting.

11 . The apparatus according to claim 10 , wherein a function of the second key in the taking mode is a release function.

12 . The apparatus according to claim 11 , wherein a function of the second key in the set-up mode is moving an image object.
