Abstract

Systems, methods and devices for location-based services are disclosed in the present invention. A multiplicity of network devices, a database, and a server platform in network-based communication. The database stores a space-network model binding IP addresses and physical locations. The server platform is operable to generate at least one geofence in the space-network model and specify entitlements for the location-based services within the at least one geofence. The at least one geofence and specific entitlement are stored to the database. The multiplicity of network devices are configured to learn the space-network model and the at least one geofence and perform tasks based on the entitlements specified for the location-based services within the at least one geofence.

Claims (38)

1 . A system for managing a space-network model, comprising:

a multiplicity of network devices and a server platform constructed and configured for network-based communication; and

a space-network model stored on the server platform or a database binding Internet Protocol (IP) addresses and physical locations, wherein each physical location is assigned a unique IP address in a topological space;

wherein the server platform is operable to define at least one geofence based on the space-network model and specify entitlements for the location-based services within the at least one geofence;

wherein the multiplicity of network devices are configured to perform tasks based on the entitlements specified for the location-based services within the at least one geofence;

wherein the topological space is pinned to a topography based on a reference datum;

wherein a network device of the multiplicity of network devices is operable to determine a physical location of the network device based on the current unique IP addresses of the other devices within the space-network model using a fencing agent;

wherein the fencing agent automatically determines the current unique IP address of each network device from the physical location of each network device; and

wherein the physical location of the network device is a 3-Dimensional (3D) geographical location.

2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the multiplicity of network devices is movable and each network device of the multiplicity of network devices is operable to relearn a physical location of the network device and update the IP address based on IP addresses received from peer network devices.

3 . The system of claim 1 , further comprising an application running on a first network device of the multiplicity of network devices, wherein the first network device comprises a processor, a transmitter, and a receiver, wherein the application on the first network device is operable to cause the first network device to emit a first unique space-network identifier within the at least one geofence, and wherein a second unique space-network identifier for a second network device of the multiplicity of network devices is updated based on the emission of the first unique space-network identifier from the first network device.

4 . The system of claim 1 , wherein each of the multiplicity of network devices is configured to emit a unique space-network identifier comprising a unique IP address for the network device.

5 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one geofence is modifiable.

6 . A method for managing a space-network model, comprising:

providing a multiplicity of network devices and a server platform constructed and configured for network-based communication; and

providing a space-network model stored on the server platform or on a database binding Internet Protocol (IP) addresses and physical locations, wherein each physical location is assigned a unique IP address in a topological space;

a fencing agent automatically determining the current unique IP address of each network device from the physical location of each network device;

the server platform defining at least one geofence based on the space-network model and specifying entitlements for the location-based services within the at least one geofence;

the multiplicity of network devices performing tasks based on the entitlements specified for the location-based services within the at least one geofence;

wherein the topological space is pinned to a topography based on a reference datum; and a network device of the multiplicity of network devices determining a physical location of the network device based on the current unique IP addresses of the other devices within the space-network model using the fencing agent; and

wherein the physical location of the network device is a 3-Dimensional (3D) geographical location.

7 . The method of claim 6 , wherein the multiplicity of network devices is movable, further comprising each network device of the multiplicity of network devices relearning the physical location of the network device and updating the unique space-network identifier of the network device based on space-network identifiers received from peer network devices.

8 . The method of claim 6 , further comprising an application on a first network device causing the first network device to emit a first unique space-network identifier within the at least one geofence, and updating a second unique space-network identifier for a second network device of the multiplicity of network devices based on the emission of the first unique space-network identifier from the first network device, wherein the first network device comprises a processor, a transmitter, and a receiver.

9 . The method of claim 6 , further comprising each of the multiplicity of network devices emitting a unique space-network identifier comprising a unique IP address for the network device.

10 . The method of claim 6 , wherein the at least one geofence is modifiable.

11 . A system for managing a space-network model, comprising:

a multiplicity of network devices and a server platform constructed and configured for network-based communication; and

a space-network model stored on the server platform or a database binding Internet Protocol (IP) addresses and physical locations, wherein each physical location is assigned a unique IP address in a topological space;

wherein at least one network device of the multiplicity of network devices is configured to compute the positions of other devices within the space-network model based on the current unique IP addresses of the other devices within the space-network model;

wherein the topological space is pinned to a topography based on a reference datum;

wherein a network device of the multiplicity of network devices is operable to determine a physical location of the network device based on the current unique IP addresses of the other devices within the space-network model using a fencing agent;

wherein the fencing agent automatically determines the current unique IP address of each network device from the physical location of each network device; and

wherein the physical location of the network device is a 3-Dimensional (3D) geographical location.

12 . The system of claim 11 , wherein a network device of the multiplicity of network devices is operable to determine a physical location of the network device based on the current unique IP addresses of the other devices within the space-network model.

13 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the multiplicity of network devices is movable and each network device of the multiplicity of network devices is operable to relearn the physical location of the network device and update a unique space-network identifier of the network device based on space-network identifiers received from peer network devices.

14 . The system of claim 11 , further comprising an application running on a first network device of the multiplicity of network devices, wherein the first network device comprises a processor, a transmitter, and a receiver, wherein the application on the first network device is operable to cause the first network device to emit a first unique space-network identifier within the at least one geofence, and wherein a second unique space-network identifier for a second network device of the multiplicity of network devices is updated based on the emission of the first unique space-network identifier from the first network device.

15 . The system of claim 11 , wherein each of the multiplicity of network devices is configured to emit a unique space-network identifier comprising a unique IP address for the network device.
