Abstract

Hydration mediums, assemblies containing hydration mediums and methods of making the same.

Claims (16)

1 . A urinary catheter product, comprising:

a package containing:

a catheter comprising a catheter shaft having a hydrophilic coating thereon; and

a foamed hydration medium including a hydration liquid comprising water and a preservative, the preservative comprising one or more of acid and peroxide, and the foamed hydration medium comprising a mass of gas bubbles formed on or in the hydration liquid.

2 . The urinary catheter product of claim 1 , wherein the hydration medium further comprises a polyol.

3 . The urinary catheter product of claim 2 , wherein the polyol comprises glycerol.

4 . The urinary catheter product of claim 2 , wherein a ratio of polyol to preservative is between about 3400 to 1 and about 500 to 1.

5 . The urinary catheter product of claim 1 , wherein the acid comprises a weak acid.

6 . The urinary catheter product of claim 5 , wherein the weak acid comprises one or more of citric acid and hypochlorous acid.

7 . The urinary catheter product of claim 1 , wherein the acid comprises a strong acid.

8 . The urinary catheter product of claim 7 , wherein the strong acid comprises hydrochloric acid.

9 . The urinary catheter product of claim 1 , wherein the peroxide comprises hydrogen peroxide.

10 . The urinary catheter product of claim 1 , wherein the hydration medium further includes a stabilizer.

11 . The urinary catheter product of claim 10 , wherein the stabilizer includes xanthan gum.

12 . The urinary catheter product of claim 1 , wherein the hydration medium further includes a surfactant.

13 . The urinary catheter product of claim 12 , wherein in the surfactant comprises sodium methyl cocoyl taurate.
