determine a first display state of the electronic gaming machine by causing a display, by the display device, of a first reset value, and

responsive to an opening of the access door being detected via the security monitoring circuit following the determination of the first display state of the electronic gaming machine:

disable any occurrence of an increase event,

store data associated with first display state of the electronic gaming machine, the stored data comprising the first reset value, and

following at least a closing of the access door detected via the security monitoring circuit:

load the stored data to reconstitute the first display state of the electronic gaming machine,

enable an occurrence of the increase event, and

following the reconstitution of the first display state of the electronic gaming machine:

 responsive to a first occurrence of the increase event, determine a second display state of the electronic gaming machine by causing a display, by the display device, of a second value, the second value being greater than the first reset value, and

 responsive to an occurrence of a first triggering event when the second value is displayed:

 determine a third display state of the electronic gaming machine by causing a display, by the display device, of a third value, and

 thereafter, determine a fourth display state of the electronic gaming machine by causing a display, by the display device, of a fourth value being a second reset value greater than the first reset value and based on the second value modified by the third value.

9 . The electronic gaming machine of claim 8 , wherein the second value comprises a multi-digit value formed from a plurality of single-digit values and the third value comprises at least one of, but not each of, the single-digit values that form the multi-digit value.

10 . The electronic gaming machine of claim 9 , wherein the fourth value is based on the plurality of single-digit values of the second value not part of the third value.

11 . The electronic gaming machine of claim 8 , wherein the first reset value comprises a first quantity of single-digit values, the second value comprises a second, different quantity of single-digit values and the third value comprises a third quantity of single-digit values different from the first quantity and different from the second quantity.

12 . The electronic gaming machine of claim 8 , wherein the first reset value comprises a first quantity of single-digit values, the second value comprises a second, different quantity of single-digit values and the fourth value comprises a third quantity of single-digit values different from the first quantity and different from the second quantity.

13 . The electronic gaming machine of claim 8 , wherein the memory device comprises a plurality of further instructions that when executed by the processor after an occurrence of a second triggering event when the second value is displayed, cause the processor to determine a fifth display state of the electronic gaming machine by causing a display, by the display device, of the first reset value.

14 . An electronic gaming machine comprising:

a housing comprising an access door;

a security monitoring circuit supported by the housing;

a display device supported by the housing;

a processor; and

a memory device that stores a plurality of instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to:

determine a first display state of the electronic gaming machine by causing a display, by the display device, of a first amount, wherein a first quantity of single-digit values form the first amount, and

responsive to an opening of the access door being detected via the security monitoring circuit following the determination of the first display state of the electronic gaming machine:

disable any occurrence of an element accumulation event,

store data associated with first display state of the electronic gaming machine, the stored data comprising the first quantity of single-digit values that form the first amount, and

following at least a closing of the access door detected via the security monitoring circuit:

load the stored data to reconstitute the first display state of the electronic gaming machine,

enable an occurrence of the element accumulation event, and
