Abstract

A component for a gas turbine engine includes a component body formed of ceramic matrix composite lamina and has at least one hook. The at least one hook has an attachment region radially inward of the at least one hook. The attachment region is radially thinner from a hook end of the at least one hook to a remote end, and then becomes radially thicker. A slot is formed through a radial thickness of the at least one hook from the hook end in a remote direction, such that there are two sections of the attachment region. A gas turbine engine is also disclosed.

Claims (23)

1 . A gas turbine engine comprising:

at least one turbine blade, and a blade outer air seal mounted radially outwardly of said at least one turbine blade;

the blade outer air seal formed of ceramic matrix composite lamina and having at least one seal hook, said at least one seal hook having an attachment region on a radially inward portion of said at least one seal hook, said attachment region being radially thinner from a hook end of said at least one seal hook to a remote end, and then becoming radially thicker;

a slot formed through a radial thickness of said at least one hook from said hook end in a remote direction, such that there are two sections of said attachment region;

wherein there are at least two of said at least one seal hook each formed with a distinct one of said attachment region and a distinct one of said slot; and

the blade outer air seal being attached to a static structure through a mount member, said mount member having at least two mount hooks each received in a space under one of said at least two seal hooks, with each said mount hook contacting one of said attachment regions, and spanning said slot.

2 . The gas turbine engine as set forth in claim 1 , said slots in each said attachment region bisect said radially thinner portions.

3 . The gas turbine engine as set forth in claim 2 , wherein cutout regions are formed on each of two circumferential sides of each said attachment region, and a finger from said static structure received within each said cutout to prevent rotation of the blade outer air seal.

4 . The gas turbine engine as set forth in claim 3 , wherein said at least two seal hooks have a vertical portion downstream of an end of said slot extending vertically to connect into a base of said blade outer air seal, and each of said slots not extending entirely through said vertical portion to the base.

5 . The gas turbine engine as set forth in claim 1 , wherein cutout regions are formed on each of two circumferential sides of each said attachment region, and a finger from said static structure received within each said cutout to prevent rotation of the blade outer air seal.

6 . The gas turbine engine as set forth in claim 5 , wherein said at least two seal hooks have a vertical portion downstream of an end of said slot extending vertically to connect into a base of said blade outer air seal, and each of said slots not extending entirely through said vertical portion to the base.

7 . The gas turbine engine as set forth in claim 1 , wherein said at least two seal hooks have a vertical portion downstream of an end of said slot extending vertically to connect into a base of said blade outer air seal, and each of said slots not extending through said vertical portion to the base.

8 . A component for a gas turbine engine comprising:

a component body formed of ceramic matrix composite lamina and having at least one seal hook, said at least one seal hook having an attachment region radially inward of said at least one seal hook, said attachment region being radially thinner from a hook end of said at least one seal hook to a remote end, and then becoming radially thicker;

a slot formed through a radial thickness of said at least one seal hook from said hook end in a remote direction, such that there are two sections of said attachment region; and

wherein said at least one seal hook has a vertical portion downstream of an end of said slot extending vertically to connect into a base of said component body, and said slot not extending entirely through said vertical portion to the base.

9 . The component as set forth in claim 8 , wherein cutout regions are formed on each of two circumferential sides of said attachment region to receive a static structure to prevent rotation of the component body.

10 . The component as set forth in claim 9 , said slot in said attachment region bisects said radially thinner portion.

11 . The component as set forth in claim 10 , wherein there are at least two of said at least one seal hook each formed with a respective one of said attachment region and said slot.

12 . The component as set forth in claim 11 , wherein a remote end of said slots in each of said at least two seal hooks extends in a remote direction beyond a remote end of said attachment regions.

13 . The component as set forth in claim 8 , said slot in said attachment region bisects said radially thinner portion.

14 . The component as set forth in claim 8 , wherein there are at least two of said at least one seal hook each formed with a respective one of said attachment region and said slot.

15 . The component as set forth in claim 14 , wherein a remote end of said slots in each of said at least two seal hooks extends in a remote direction beyond a remote end of said attachment regions.
