Abstract

Brackets for posts and methods of using the same are described. The brackets may include a lower base plate with one or more fastener holes to connect a bracket to a support surface, an upper base plate to support a post and which may include one or more access holes aligned with the lower plate fastener holes and a knife plate that extends above the upper base plate and into a slot in the post. The brackets may also include one or more walls that extend from the lower base plate to the upper base plate to support the upper base plate. The knife plate may extend from the lower base plate through a slot in the upper base plate and may include one or more ledges that support the upper base plate.
