Abstract

Provided is a canola variety designated 18GM0788N and seed, plants and plant parts thereof produced from a cross of inbred varieties. Methods for producing a canola variety comprise crossing canola variety 18GM0788N with another canola plant. Methods for producing a canola plant containing in its genetic material one or more traits introgressed into 18GM0788N through backcross conversion and/or transformation, and to the canola seed, plant and plant part produced thereby are described. Canola variety 18GM0788N, the seed, the plant produced from the seed, plant parts and variants, mutants, and minor modifications of canola variety 18GM0788N are disclosed.

Claims (20)

. A seed of hybrid canola variety 18GM0788N, representative seed produced by crossing a first plant of variety G00010 with a second plant of variety 4PNRM27R, wherein representative seed of the varieties G00010 and 4PNRM27R have been deposited under ATCC Accession Number PTA-126279 and NCMA Accession Number 202207066, respectively.

. A plant or plant part of hybrid canola variety 18GM0788N grown from the seed of claim 1 , wherein the plant part comprises at least one cell of hybrid canola variety 18GM0788N.

. A method of producing the seed of claim 1 , the method comprising crossing a plant of variety G00010 with a plant of variety 4PNRM27R.

. The seed of claim 1 , further comprising a transgene, wherein the transgene is introduced by backcrossing or genetic transformation into the variety G00010, the variety 4PNRM27R, or both varieties G00010 and 4PNRM27R, and wherein the seed produces a plant having otherwise all the physiological and morphological characteristics as hybrid canola variety 18GM0788N when grown under the same environmental conditions.

. A seed of hybrid canola variety 18GM0788N further comprising a single locus conversion, wherein a plant grown from the seed comprises a trait conferred by the single locus conversion, and wherein the seed is produced by crossing a first plant of variety G00010 with a second plant of variety 4PNRM27R, wherein the first plant, the second plant or both further comprise the single locus conversion, and wherein representative seed of the varieties G00010 and 4PNRM27R have been deposited under ATCC Accession Number PTA-126279 and NCMA Accession Number 202207066, respectively, and wherein the seed produces a plant having otherwise all the physiological and morphological characteristics as hybrid canola variety 18GM0788N when grown under the same environmental conditions.

. The hybrid canola variety 18GM0788N seed of claim 5 , wherein the locus conversion confers a property selected from the group consisting of male sterility, a site for site-specific recombination, abiotic stress tolerance, altered phosphate, altered antioxidants, altered fatty acids, altered essential amino acids, altered carbohydrates, herbicide resistance, insect resistance and disease resistance.

. The hybrid canola variety 18GM0788N seed of claim 5 , further comprising a seed treatment on the surface of the seed.

. A method for producing nucleic acids, the method comprising isolating nucleic acids from the hybrid canola variety 18GM0788N seed of claim 5 .

. A plant or plant part grown from the hybrid canola variety 18GM0788N seed of claim 5 , the plant part comprising at least one cell of hybrid canola variety 18GM0788N further comprising the single locus conversion.

. A method of producing a commodity plant product comprising carbohydrate, silage, oil or protein, the method comprising producing the commodity plant product from the plant or plant part of claim 9 .

. A method for producing a second canola plant, the method comprising applying plant breeding techniques to the plant or plant part of claim 9 to produce the second canola plant.

. A method for producing a hybrid canola variety 18GM0788N seed further comprising a locus conversion, the method comprising crossing a first plant of variety G00010 with a second plant of variety 4PNRM27R, representative seed of the varieties G00010 and 4PNRM27R having been deposited under ATCC Accession Number PTA-126279 and NCMA Accession Number 202207066, respectively, wherein at least one of the varieties G00010 and 4PNRM27R further comprises the locus conversion.

. An F1 hybrid canola variety 18GM0788N seed further comprising a locus conversion produced by the method of claim 12 , wherein the seed produces a plant expressing the traits conferred by the locus conversion and comprising otherwise all the physiological and morphological characteristics of canola variety 18GM0788N when grown under the same environmental conditions.

. The seed of claim 13 , further comprising a seed treatment on the surface of the seed.

. The seed of claim 13 , wherein the locus conversion confers a property selected from the group consisting of male sterility, a site for site-specific recombination, abiotic stress tolerance, altered phosphate, altered antioxidants, altered fatty acids, altered essential amino acids, altered carbohydrates, herbicide resistance, insect resistance and disease resistance.

. A method for producing nucleic acids, the method comprising isolating nucleic acids from the seed of claim 13 .

. A plant or plant part produced by growing the seed of claim 13 , the plant part comprising at least one F1 hybrid canola variety 18GM0788N cell further comprising the locus conversion.

. A method for producing nucleic acids, the method comprising isolating nucleic acids from the plant or plant part of claim 17 .

. A method of producing a commodity plant product comprising carbohydrate, silage, oil or protein, the method comprising producing the commodity plant product from the plant or plant part of claim 17 .

. A method for producing a second canola plant, the method comprising crossing the canola plant or plant part of claim 17 with itself or with a different canola plant.
