Abstract

A method comprising: instructing the creation of a plurality of first cryptographic tokens representing digital assets with at least one attribute configured to evolve over time; receiving a request to lock the evolution of the digital asset corresponding to the cryptographic token; in response to the received request, generating a second cryptographic token having at least one attribute derived from the evolutionary state of the digital asset at the time the request to lock was received; instructing the transfer of the second cryptographic token to a digital wallet or account of the token holder.

Claims (27)

1 . A method comprising:

instructing the creation of a plurality of first cryptographic tokens representing digital assets with at least one attribute configured to evolve over time;

receiving, from a token holder of a cryptographic token of the plurality of first cryptographic tokens, a request to lock the evolution of the digital asset corresponding to the cryptographic token;

in response to the received request, generating a second cryptographic token having at least one attribute derived from the evolutionary state of the digital asset defined by the first cryptographic token at the time the request to lock was received;

instructing the transfer of the second cryptographic token to a digital wallet or account of the token holder; and

wherein possession of the second cryptographic token within the digital wallet or account bestows the account holder with one or more opportunities or increases the likelihood that the one or more opportunities may be made available.

2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising transferring, to the token holder, a physical item, and

wherein receipt of the physical item comprises the one or more opportunities.

3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the physical item has a look, appearance, or likeness that matches or is derived from a digital asset corresponding to the second cryptographic token.

4 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the physical item is a limited production physical item selected from a production of between about 100 and about 5000 units.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the token holder has an increased likelihood that the one or more opportunities may be made available when compared to an individual without the second cryptographic token.

6 . The method of claim 5 , wherein the one or more opportunities comprises:

receiving a physical item;

receiving access to one or more events;

advance-sale access to tickets;

digital access to experiences within virtual or mixed reality environments; or

the ability to receive or purchase varying tertiary digital assets.

7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the at least one attribute of the digital asset that is configured to evolve over time includes a visual element of the digital asset.

8 . The method of claim 7 , wherein the visual element comprises a full graphical representation, a portion of the image, a layer of the image, or one or more elements added to the image after a conditional event occurs.

9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the at least one attribute of the digital asset that is configured to evolve over time includes a non-visual parameter of the digital asset.

10 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the non-visual parameter comprises a performance attribute that defines how the digital object performs or influences other objects when imported into a video game-type software application.

11 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising providing the token holder with a mechanism to selectively freeze the asset in its current state such that further evolution of the dynamic attribute or trait is prevented.

12 . The method of claim 11 , wherein freezing the evolution of the dynamic attribute or trait enables the holder to maintain the asset in the locked state indefinitely or receive one or more derivative assets or tokens based at least in part on the evolutionary state of the digital asset at the time the lock request was made.

13 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the evolution of the digital asset occurs in response to a predefined event, occurrence, condition, or action.

14 . The method of claim 13 , wherein the predefined event, occurrence, condition, or action includes the passage of time, output from a random number generator, a particular function outputting a predefined result or sequence, or at the discretion of an asset administrator.

15 . The method of claim 13 , wherein the evolution of the digital asset occurs in direct response to one or more external triggering events, which may include outcomes of real or virtual events or activities that require or encourage group or community participation.

16 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising instructing the first cryptographic token to be burnt upon transferring the second cryptographic token to the digital wallet or account of the token holder.
