Abstract

A device and method are described for a universal analytical data mart and data structure for same. The analytical data mart (ADM) associated data structure is designed to allow data from disparate sources to be integrated, enabling streamlined business intelligence, reporting and ad hoc analysis. Conceptually, the ADM enables analytics and business intelligence from multiple frames of reference including people, such as parties and actors including individuals and organizations, places, such as addresses with geographic information at various levels of view, objects, such as insured properties, automobiles and machinery, and events, milestones which happen at points in time and provide analytical/business value.

Claims (36)

1 . A system for universally repositing repeatedly accessible information, the system comprising:

a plurality of data sources providing data stored in a plurality of storage devices, the data representing at least a plurality of events, persons, places and things;

at least a processor coupled to a storage device, the processor for searching each of the plurality of data sources using a plurality of data mining techniques to identify elements of the stored data by identifying at least one pattern in the stored data including at least one of machine learning and text mining;

an outlier engine operating on the identified elements to compare data points to averages and thresholds, the outlier engine determining relationships in a plurality of regions, each region of the plurality of regions providing clumping of data, the plurality of regions including a normative region and at least one region of interest, providing derived data based on the region of the plurality of regions including the data, the derived data being included within the region of the plurality of regions, wherein the derived data is used as data associated with the original data, and the system assigns values based on the relationship of the derived data to the original data through a scoring process, each value correlated to the data being assigned a multiplicative factor to the relationship of the data based on a local average of the data in the region of the plurality of regions,

the processor further for incorporating analytics on the data in the region of the plurality of regions including a set of classifying characteristics by executing instructions stored in the storage device to run computer models on the data in the region of the plurality of regions to provide information about the elements including group analytics and scoring, the scoring including at least a long-term score and a short-term score based on the duration of treatment, and based on defined criteria produce a ranking added to the elements and store the elements with the associated ranking to universally reposit repeated access to the information, the ranking including weighting the elements based on the group analytics, local average and scoring, the ranking stored as new data, and automatically activating at least two systems by providing the associated ranking directly via at least one interface to the at least two systems to allow access to the elements with the associated ranking; and

the at least one interface providing the ranked data to allow repeated access, wherein the ranked data is associated with pre-existing data, the interface providing at least one display of a dashboard grouping the ranked data based on at least one of the plurality of events, persons, places and things.

2 . The system of claim 1 wherein the data is stored in at least one of a data warehouse, received via a third-party interface, and data stored in a data lake.

3 . The system of claim 1 wherein the searching includes at least one of data mining, machine learning, and text mining.

4 . The system of claim 1 wherein the analytics includes predictive analytics.

5 . The system of claim 1 wherein the analytics includes prescriptive analytics.

6 . The system of claim 1 wherein the interface publishes to an underwriting system.

7 . The system of claim 1 wherein the interface publishes to a fraud investigation system.

8 . The system of claim 1 wherein the interface publishes to claim administration.

9 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the processor determines a holdback associated with at least a portion of the information.

10 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the processor verifies the associated ranking with at least one prior ranking associated with the information stored in a storage medium.

11 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the processor expires a previous record for a ranking associated with the information and stores a new record associated with the information in a storage medium.

12 . A computerized method for universally repositing repeatedly accessible information, the method comprising:

storing a plurality of data from a plurality of data sources in a plurality of storage devices, the data representing at least a plurality of events, persons, places and things;

searching, by a processor, the plurality of stored data using a plurality of mining techniques to identify at least one pattern in at least a portion of the stored data;

staging the searched data in a database using an outlier engine on a plurality of regions including a normative region and at least one region of interest and patterns to group data, the outlier engine comparing data points to averages and thresholds based on the region of the data point, the outlier engine determining relationships that provide derived data about specific ones of the at least a region and patterns, the derived data being included with the specific ones of the identified raw information and patterns, wherein the derived data is used as data associated with the original data, and the system assigns values based on the relationship of the derived data to the original data through a scoring process, each value correlated to the data being assigned a multiplicative factor to the relationship of the data based on a local average of the data in the region of the plurality of regions;

incorporating analytics on the staged data by including a set of classifying characteristics;

computer modeling, via a processor, the data including the local average to produce group analytics and scoring, the scoring including at least a long-term score and a short-term score based on the duration of treatment;

storing a ranking as part of the data determined based on the modeling and a defined criterion to universally reposit repeated access to the data; and

automatically activating at least two systems by providing the stored ranking directly via at least one interface to the at least two systems to allow access to the stored materials with the associated ranking, wherein the ranked data is associated with pre-existing data, the interface providing at least one display of a dashboard grouping the ranked data based on at least one of the plurality of events, persons, places and things.

13 . The method of claim 12 further comprising publishing the stored materials with the associated ranking to an underwriting system.

14 . The method of claim 12 further comprising publishing the stored materials with the associated ranking to a fraud investigation system.

15 . The method of claim 12 further comprising publishing the stored materials with the associated ranking to claim administration.

16 . The method of claim 12 further comprising determining a holdback associated with at least a portion of the materials.

17 . The method of claim 12 further comprising verifying the associated ranking with at least one prior ranking associated with the materials stored in a storage medium.

18 . The method of claim 12 further comprising expiring a previous record for a ranking associated with the materials and storing a new record associated with the materials.

19 . A system for universally repositing repeatedly accessible information, the system comprising:

a plurality of raw information stored in a plurality of storage devices, the raw information based on data collected by an insurance company, at least one of the plurality of raw information being from a source external to the insurance company and at least one of the plurality of raw information being from a source internal to the insurance company, the data representing at least a plurality of events, persons, places and things;

at least a processor searching the plurality of raw information using a plurality of data mining techniques and identifying at least one pattern in at least a portion of the plurality of raw information;

an outlier engine operating on the identified raw information and patterns to group data by comparing data points to averages and thresholds into at least a plurality of groups including a normative group and at least one group of interest, the outlier engine determining relationships within each group that provide derived data about specific ones of the identified raw information and patterns, the derived data being included with the specific ones of the identified raw information and patterns, wherein the derived data is used as data associated with the original data, and the system assigns values based on the relationship of the derived data to the original data through a scoring process, each value correlated to the data being assigned a multiplicative factor to the relationship of the data based on a local average; and

the processor further incorporating analytics on the identified information including a set of classifying characteristics by executing instructions stored in the plurality of storage devices to run computer models on the incorporated information including group analytics, the local average and scoring and based on defined criteria produce a ranking in the information and store the information with the associated ranking to universally reposit repeated access to the information, the scoring including at least a long-term score and a short-term score based on the duration of treatment the ranking stored as new data, and automatically activating at least one system by providing the associated ranking directly via at least one interface to the at least one system to allow access to the information with the associated ranking, wherein the ranked data is associated with pre-existing data, the interface providing at least one display of a dashboard grouping the ranked data based on at least one of the plurality of events, persons, places and things.
