Abstract

Systems and methods for creating, editing, sharing and distributing high-quality, media-rich web-based communications. The communications are created in a layered fashion that integrates user-selected text, colors, background patterns, images, sound, music, video, or other media. The systems and methods are used to generate, edit, broadcast, and track electronic presentations, brochures, advertisements (such as banner advertisements on highly trafficked media websites), announcements, and interactive web pages, without the need for the user to understand complex programming languages.

allow users to generate one or more derivative instances of the multimedia communication for the distribution to selected recipients;

integrate customizable components into the multimedia communication wherein the customizable components are configured to receive a structured data object derived from a data feed, and wherein the system dynamically integrates the structured data object into one or more content sequences of the multimedia communication to generate a tailored multimedia communication; and

dynamically generate one or more derivative tailored multimedia communications via a real-time update link.

9 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the system enables users to edit the multimedia communication templates without use of a complex programming or authoring language based on a series of questions or prompts, and wherein the system concurrently auto-determines a visual design and layout of the multimedia communication for further review and editing by the user.

10 . The system of claim 9 , wherein the one or more content sequences include a background layer, a main layer and a foreground layer.

11 . The system of claim 10 , further including an interface for the exchange of information and/or commands between the design layers of the one or more content sequences, wherein the interface provides a conduit for coordinating and integrating the assigned media assets across the design layers according to predefined rules stored in the project object.

12 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the updates to the derivative instances occur via linked sharing.

13 . The system of claim 12 , wherein the server includes a project viewer module configured to serialize the design layers and media assets, and to determine a load sequence for the one or more content sequences, design layers or content containers.

14 . A multimedia communication system comprising a server configured to:

provide an interface for the client computer, the interface configured to upload one or more multimedia files for the multimedia communication, and including controls for allowing user selection of at least one media rich template and at least one media asset, the interface being configured to receive the user selection and retrieve templates and media assets based on the user selection, the interface further configured to enable the user to access and edit the media rich template with media assets to produce the multimedia communication;
