Abstract

A cartridge pin assembly in a track chain assembly includes a sleeve bearing having a flared end.

Claims (66)

1 . A sleeve bearing comprising:

an at least partially annular cylindrical body defining a cylindrical axis, a radial direction, and a circumferential direction, the at least partially annular cylindrical body including:

a radially inner circumferential surface;

a radially outer circumferential surface;

a first free end and a second free end disposed along the cylindrical axis; and

a flared portion disposed proximate to the first free end along the cylindrical axis, wherein the flared portion includes:

a radially extending abutment surface,

a first transitional surface connecting the radially inner circumferential surface to the radially extending abutment surface,

an angled surface forming an external obtuse angle with the first radially outer circumferential surface,

a second transitional surface connecting the radially extending abutment surface to the angled surface, and

a third transitional surface connecting the angled surface to the first radially outer circumferential surface.

2 . The sleeve bearing of claim 1 , wherein the external obtuse angle ranges from 160.0 degrees to 179.0 degrees.

3 . The sleeve bearing of claim 1 ,

wherein the first transitional surface is a first chamfer,

wherein the second transitional surface is a second chamfer, and

wherein the third transitional surface is a radius.

4 . The sleeve bearing of claim 1 , wherein the radially outer circumferential surface defines an outer diameter of the sleeve bearing ranging from 80 mm to 200 mm.

5 . The sleeve bearing of claim 1 ,

wherein the radially outer circumferential surface defines an outer diameter of the sleeve bearing,

wherein the radially extending abutment surface defines a radial height measured radially from the first transitional surface to the second transitional surface, and

wherein a ratio of the outer diameter to the radial height ranges from 10.0 to 15.0.

6 . The sleeve bearing of claim 1 ,

wherein the radially extending abutment surface defines a radial height measured radially from the first transitional surface to the second transitional surface, and

wherein the radial height ranges from 10.0 mm to 30.0 mm.

7 . The sleeve bearing of claim 1 ,

wherein the angled surface is a conical surface.

8 . The sleeve bearing of claim 7 , wherein the conical surface defines a height measured from the second transitional surface to the third transitional surface along the radial direction ranging from 3.0 mm to 9.5 mm.

9 . The sleeve bearing of claim 7 ,

wherein the at least partially annular cylindrical body defines a longitudinal length measured from the first free end to the second free end,

wherein the conical surface defines a height measured from the second transitional surface to the third transitional surface along the radial direction, and

wherein a ratio of the longitudinal length to the height ranges from 28.0 to 36.0.

10 . The sleeve bearing of claim 7 ,

wherein the at least partially annular cylindrical body defines a longitudinal length measured from the first free end to the second free end,

wherein the conical surface defines a width measured from the second transitional surface to the third transitional surface along the cylindrical axis, and

wherein a ratio of the longitudinal length to the width ranges from 3.0 to 5.0.

11 . The sleeve bearing of claim 1 , wherein the radially inner circumferential surface defines an inner diameter of the sleeve bearing ranging from 60 mm to 180 mm.

12 . The sleeve bearing of claim 1 , wherein a width measured from the second transitional surface to the third transitional surface along the cylindrical axis ranges from 18.0 mm to 54.0 mm.

13 . The sleeve bearing of claim 1 , wherein an end portion of the flared portion is adapted to be disposed along a track pin bore longitudinal axis.

14 . The sleeve bearing of claim 13 , wherein the end portion of the flared portion is adapted to be spaced a first distance from a seal assembly at a first point and a second distance from the seal assembly at a second point.

15 . The sleeve bearing of claim 14 , wherein the first distance is different from the second distance.

16 . The sleeve bearing of claim 13 , wherein the end portion of the flared portion includes the radially extending abutment surface and the angled surface.

17 . The sleeve bearing of claim 16 , wherein the inclined surface is a ramp surface.

18 . The sleeve bearing of claim 16 , wherein first-a seal assembly is disposed radially and circumferentially outward of the angled surface.

19 . The sleeve bearing of claim 1 , wherein the sleeve bearing is made from steel.

20 . A metal sleeve bearing comprising:

an at least partially annular body defining a longitudinal axis, a radial direction, and a circumferential direction, the at least partially annular body including:

a radially inner circumferential surface;

a radially outer circumferential surface;

a first free end and a second free end along the longitudinal axis opposite the first free end; and

a flared portion proximate to the first free end, wherein the flared portion includes:

an interface region,

a first transitional surface connecting the radially inner circumferential surface to the interface region,

an angled surface forming an external angle with the radially outer circumferential surface,

a second transitional surface connecting the interface region to the angled surface, and

a third transitional surface connecting the angled surface to the radially outer circumferential surface.

21 . A sleeve bearing comprising:

an at least partially annular body including:

a radially inner circumferential surface;

a radially outer circumferential surface opposite the radially inner circumferential surface in a radial direction;

a first free end and a second free end opposite the first free end along a length of the at least partially annular body; and

a flared portion that includes:

an interface region,

a first transitional surface connecting the radially inner circumferential surface to the interface region,

an angled surface forming an external obtuse angle with the radially outer circumferential surface,

a second transitional surface connecting the interface region to the angled surface, and

a third transitional surface connecting the angled surface to the radially outer circumferential surface.
