Abstract

When attending an event at a venue, the attendee typically presents ticket information that is scanned by a venue scanner. The process associated with scanning can be dispensed with, which can improve attendee experiences, reduce costs associated with managing a venue, as well as other advantages. For example, instead of scanning a ticket at a point of ingress to the venue, a device of the user can self-scan the ticket, and then present indicia that indicates this process has occurred. The indicia can be presented to a guest services representative, who can verify that a valid ticket was redeemed by merely observing the indicia and without scanning.

Claims (69)

1 . A venue computer system associated with a venue, comprising:

a computing device;

an imaging device positioned at a point of ingress;

a radio frequency transmitter;

non-transitory computer-readable memory that stores computer readable instructions that when executed by the computing device are configured to cause the venue computer system to perform operations comprising:

wirelessly transmit, using the radio frequency transmitter, proximity data comprising time data to an attendee device sensor of a first attendee that causes ticket data associated with an attendee to be redeemed and that causes the attendee device to present verification indicia, the verification indicia comprising dynamically generated, non-reusable indicia configured to prevent copying or forwarding, wherein presentation of the verification indicia enables access to the venue;

receive an image of a second attendee from the imaging device at the point of ingress;

perform image processing and recognition techniques on the image of the second attendee to generate ID data;

determine, using the generated ID data, whether the second attendee has a privilege to enter the venue;

at least partly in response to determining that the second attendee has a privilege to enter the venue, instruct an access limiting mechanism to allow entry to the venue by the second attendee.

2 . The venue computer system as defined in claim 1 , wherein:

the verification indicia comprise machine readable code, comprising encrypted data,

the encrypted data comprises an identifier of the attendee device;

the operations further comprise:

determine how many tickets for an event at the venue are associated with the attendee device; and

cause, at least in part, the attendee device to display data indicating how many tickets for the event are associated with the attendee device.

3 . The venue computer system as defined in claim 1 , wherein the verification indicia comprise machine readable code, comprising encrypted data.

4 . The venue computer system as defined in claim 1 , the operations further comprising causing locator data to be generated and enabling the locator data to be visually presented.

5 . The venue computer system as defined in claim 1 , wherein the verification indicia comprise machine readable code, comprising encrypted data, wherein the encrypted data comprises an identifier of the attendee device.

6 . The venue computer system as defined in claim 1 , the operations further comprising

determine how many tickets for an event at the venue are associated with the attendee device; and

cause, at least in part, the attendee device to display data indicating how many tickets for the event are associated with the attendee device.

7 . The venue computer system as defined in claim 1 , wherein the verification indicia is animated and configured to thwart forwarding or copying.

8 . The venue computer system as defined in claim 1 , the operations further comprising:

compare current time information with time information associated with an event at the venue; and

validate ticket data partly in response to determining that a current time corresponds to the time information associated with the event being at the venue.

9 . The venue computer system as defined in claim 1 , the operations further comprising:

determine a first location of the attendee device;

generate a proximity based alert at least partly in response to determining the first location of the attendee device.

10 . A computer implemented method, the method comprising:

wirelessly transmitting, using a radio frequency transmitter at a venue, proximity data to an attendee device sensor of a first attendee that causes ticket data associated with an attendee to be redeemed and that causes the attendee device to present verification indicia, the verification indicia comprising dynamically generated, non-reusable indicia configured to prevent copying or forwarding, wherein presentation of the verification indicia enables access to the venue;

receiving an image of a second attendee from an imaging device at a second point of ingress;

performing image processing and recognition techniques on the image of the second attendee to generate ID data;

determining, using the generated ID data, whether the second attendee has a privilege to enter the venue;

at least partly in response to determining that the second attendee has a privilege to enter the venue, instructing an access limiting mechanism to allow entry to the venue by the second attendee.

11 . The computer implemented method as defined in claim 10 , wherein:

the indicia comprise machine readable code, comprising encrypted data,

the data comprises an identifier of the attendee device;

the method further comprising:

determining how many tickets for an event at the venue are associated with the attendee device; and

causing, at least in part, the attendee device to display data indicating how many tickets for the event are associated with the attendee device.

12 . The computer implemented method as defined in claim 10 , wherein the indicia comprise machine readable code, comprising encrypted data.

13 . The computer implemented method as defined in claim 10 , the method further comprising causing locator data to be generated and enabling the locator data to be visually presented.

14 . The computer implemented method as defined in claim 10 , wherein the data comprises an identifier of the attendee device.

15 . The computer implemented method as defined in claim 10 , the method further comprising:

determining how many tickets for an event at the venue are associated with the attendee device; and

causing, at least in part, the attendee device to display data indicating how many tickets for the event are associated with the attendee device.

16 . The computer implemented method as defined in claim 10 , wherein the indicia is animated and configured to thwart forwarding or copying.

17 . The computer implemented method as defined in claim 10 , the method further comprising:

comparing current time information with time information associated with an event at the venue; and

validating ticket data partly in response to determining that a current time corresponds to the time information associated with the event being at the venue.

18 . The computer implemented method as defined in claim 10 , the method further comprising:

determining a first location of the attendee device;

generating a proximity based alert at least partly in response to determining the first location of the attendee device.

19 . A non-transitory computer readable storage medium storing computer-executable instructions that, when executed, are configured to cause a computer system comprising one or more processing devices to perform operations, comprising:

wirelessly transmit, using a radio frequency transmitter at a venue, proximity data to an attendee device sensor of a first attendee that causes ticket data associated with an attendee to be redeemed and that causes the attendee device to present verification indicia, the verification indicia comprising dynamically generated, non-reusable indicia configured to prevent copying or forwarding, wherein presentation of the verification indicia enables access to the venue;

receive an image of a second attendee from an imaging device at a second point of ingress;

perform image processing and recognition techniques on the image of the second attendee to generate ID data;

determine, using the generated ID data, whether the second attendee has a privilege to enter the venue;

at least partly in response to determining that the second attendee has a privilege to enter the venue, instruct an access limiting mechanism to allow entry to the venue by the second attendee.

20 . The non-transitory computer readable storage medium as defined in claim 19 , wherein:

the indicia comprise machine readable code, comprising encrypted data,

the data comprises an identifier of the attendee device;

the operations further comprising:

determining how many tickets for an event at the venue are associated with the attendee device; and

causing, at least in part, the attendee device to display data indicating how many tickets for the event are associated with the attendee device.

21 . The non-transitory computer readable storage medium as defined in claim 19 , the operations further comprising:

determining a first location of the attendee device;

generating a proximity based alert at least partly in response to determining the first location of the attendee device.
