Abstract

An electronic device includes a hinge module; a first housing, a second housing, and a flexible display. The first housing is connected to the hinge module. The second housing is connected to the hinge module. The flexible display is disposed through at least a portion of the first and second housings. The flexible display includes a display panel includes a first surface facing in a first direction and a second surface facing in a direction opposite, when the electronic device is in an unfolded state. The flexible display also includes a window layer disposed at the first surface and a metal sheet layer. The display panel, the window layer, and the metal sheet layer are disposed so that a separation distance between the display panel, the window layer, and the metal sheet layer and inner side walls of the first and second housings and generates different interlayer slips.

Claims (35)

1 . A portable communication device comprising:

a housing including a first housing portion and a second housing portion;

a hinge module connected with the first housing portion and the second housing portion such that the first housing portion and the second housing portion are configured to be rotated with respect to a folding axis provided by the hinge module, respectively; and

a flexible display accommodated in the first housing portion and the second housing portion, the flexible display including:

a display panel including a first surface facing in a first direction and a second surface facing in a second direction opposite to the first direction when the portable communication device is fully unfolded, the display panel disposed such that a space is provided between an edge of the display panel and an inner surface of a side wall of a corresponding one of the first housing portion and the second housing portion;

a window cover disposed over the first surface of the display panel; and

a conductive sheet disposed under the second surface of the display panel such that, when the portable communication device is fully unfolded, an edge of the conductive sheet is protruded outwardly beyond the edge of the display panel toward the inner surface of the side wall of the corresponding housing portion.

2 . The portable communication device of claim 1 , wherein at least one portion of the conductive sheet is recessed into the edge of the conductive sheet such that an interior edge of the portion recessed into the edge of the conductive sheet is further from the inner surface of the side wall than the edge of the conductive sheet.

3 . The portable communication device of claim 1 , wherein at least a portion of the edge of the conductive sheet is disposed to come into contact with the inner surface of the side wall.

4 . The portable communication device of claim 1 , wherein a portion of the conductive sheet protruding outwardly beyond the edge of the display panel towards the inner surface of the side wall of the corresponding housing portion comprises a bending portion, the bending portion comprising a bend in the conductive sheet in a predetermined direction.

5 . The portable communication device of claim 4 , wherein the predetermined direction of the bend in the conductive sheet is positioned to not disturb interlayer slip within the flexible display during folding and unfolding of the portable communication device.

6 . The portable communication device of claim 4 , wherein the predetermined direction of the bend in the conductive sheet is toward the first surface of the display panel.

7 . The portable communication device of claim 4 , wherein the predetermined direction of the bend in the conductive sheet is toward the second surface of the display panel.

8 . The portable communication device of claim 4 , wherein the predetermined direction of the bend in the conductive sheet is inwards, toward the display panel.

9 . The portable communication device of claim 1 , further comprising a section of adhesive tape disposed between the conductive sheet and one or more of the first housing portion or the second housing portion.

10 . The portable communication device of claim 1 , further comprising a protection frame disposed on one or more of the first housing portion or the second housing portion, and

a sealing member disposed between the flexible display and the protection frame.

11 . A portable communication device comprising:

a first housing;

a second housing;

a hinge module connected with the first housing and the second housing; and

a flexible display accommodated in the first housing and the second housing, the flexible display including:

a display panel including a first surface facing in a first direction and a second surface facing in a second direction opposite to the first direction when the portable communication device is fully unfolded, the display panel disposed such that a space is provided between an edge of the display panel and an inner surface of a side wall of a corresponding one of the first housing and the second housing;

a window cover disposed over the first surface of the display panel; and

a conductive sheet disposed under the second surface of the display panel such that, when the portable communication device is fully unfolded, an edge of the conductive sheet protrudes outwardly beyond an edge of the display panel toward the inner surface of the side wall of the first housing or the second housing, such that at least a portion of the edge of the conductive sheet prevents collision of the display panel with the inner surface of the side wall.

12 . The portable communication device of claim 11 , wherein a portion of the conductive sheet protruding outwardly beyond the edge of the display panel towards the inner surface of the side wall of the corresponding housing comprises a bending portion, the bending portion comprising a bend in the conductive sheet in a predetermined direction.

13 . The portable communication device of claim 12 , wherein the predetermined direction of the bend in the conductive sheet is positioned to not disturb interlayer slip within the flexible display during folding and unfolding of the portable communication device.

14 . The portable communication device of claim 12 , wherein the predetermined direction of the bend in the conductive sheet is toward the first surface of the display panel.

15 . The portable communication device of claim 12 , wherein the predetermined direction of the bend in the conductive sheet is toward the second surface of the display panel.

16 . The portable communication device of claim 12 , wherein the predetermined direction of the bend in the conductive sheet is inwards, toward the display panel.

17 . The portable communication device of claim 11 , further comprising a section of adhesive tape disposed between the conductive sheet and one or more of the first housing or the second housing.

18 . The portable communication device of claim 11 , further comprising a protection frame disposed on one or more of the first housing or the second housing, and

a sealing member disposed between the flexible display and the protection frame.

19 . The portable communication device of claim 11 , wherein at least one portion of the conductive sheet is recessed into the edge of the conductive sheet such that an interior edge of the recessed portion is further from the inner surface of the side wall than the edge of the conductive sheet.

20 . The portable communication device of claim 11 , wherein the conductive sheet comprises a bendable portion formed at a position corresponding to a folding area of the flexible display when the portable communication device is at least partially folded.
