Abstract

A method of manufacturing a comestible includes providing a comestible mass, forming said comestible mass into a comestible structure having a desired shape using a forming station, and applying a packaging material to a surface of said comestible structure while said comestible structure remains in contact with a portion of said forming station.

Claims (18)

1 . A method of packaging a comestible comprising:

providing a comestible mass to a forming station, the forming station having only a pair of rollers, wherein the comestible mass is provided to a nip formed between the pair of rollers;

forming said comestible mass into a comestible structure having a desired shape via the forming station, wherein said forming includes compressing said comestible mass between the pair of rollers into said comestible structure with said desired shape; and

packaging said comestible structure in a packaging material, wherein packaging said comestible structure includes contacting a packaging material to a surface of said comestible structure at said forming station, downstream from said forming, wherein said comestible structure avoids direct contact with a force generating component arranged downstream from said forming station.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein all intentional conditioning of said comestible structure occurs while said comestible structure is in contact with said packaging material.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein no intentional cooling of said comestible structure occurs during said forming said comestible into a comestible structure having a desired shape.

4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein said desired shape is a final shape of the comestible structure.

5 . A method of packaging a comestible comprising:

providing a comestible mass;

forming said comestible mass into a comestible structure having a desired shape at a forming system including a pair of forming rollers; and

packaging said comestible structure in a packaging material, wherein at least one of a change in hardness of said comestible structure and a change in stiffness of said comestible structure occurs downstream from said forming occur while said comestible structure is in contact with the packaging material, wherein said packaging includes continuously providing the comestibles structure from direct contact with a surface of at least one of the pair of forming rollers directly to a first packaging material.

6 . The method of claim 5 , wherein said changes in characteristic do not affect said packaging.

7 . A method of manufacturing a comestible, the method comprising:

providing a comestible mass to a forming station, the forming station having a pair of rollers, wherein the comestible mass is provided to a nip formed between the pair of rollers;

forming said comestible mass into a comestible structure having a desired shape via a forming station, wherein said forming includes compressing said comestible mass between the pair of rollers into said comestible structure with said desired shape; and

packaging said comestible structure in a packaging material including applying a packaging material to a surface of said comestible structure without any intentional cooling of said comestible mass and said comestible structure during said forming said comestible mass into said comestible structure and said applying said packaging material to said comestible structure, wherein said packaging includes continuously providing the comestibles structure from direct contact with a surface of at least one of the pair of forming rollers directly to a first packaging material.

8 . The method of claim 7 , wherein said packaging material is applied to said surface of said comestible while said comestible is in contact with said forming station.

9 . The method of claim 7 , wherein in said desired shape, said comestible structure has a depth between 0.3 mm and 10 mm.
