Abstract

A method includes rendering, via a touchscreen, a graphical user interface comprising a first control configured to receive a selection of a location monitored by a first device and a second control configured to receive a selection of a setting to apply to a system. The system includes the first device and a second device. The second device is configured to communicate with the first device. The setting specifies a first mode of operation of the first device and a second mode of operation of the second device. The second mode of operation prohibits communication between the first and second devices. The method further includes receiving, via the touchscreen, the selection of the setting via the second control and applying the selection to the system to configure the first device to operate in a first mode and the second device to operate in the second mode.

Claims (57)

1 . A method comprising:

rendering, via a touchscreen, an image captured by a device, the image including at least a portion of an observed person at a location under surveillance by a system that includes the device;

rendering, via the touchscreen, a plurality of profile images, individual profile images of the plurality of profile images representing a previously defined profile of one of a plurality of recognized people authorized to be present at the location;

receiving, via the touchscreen, input that associates the image captured by the device with a selected one of the previously defined profiles, the selected profile defined for a particular one of the plurality of recognized people authorized to be present at the location;

applying, in response to the input, a setting that defines how the system responds to detection of one of the plurality of recognized people authorized to be present at the location, wherein the setting specifies that the system will withhold remote notification of the detection to a remote monitoring interface that forms part of the system; and

rendering, via the touchscreen, a save profile screen that includes:

a first control configured to receive an identifier of the particular one of the plurality of recognized people authorized to be present at the location;

a listing of one or more images associated with the selected profile, the listing including the image captured by the device; and

a second control configured to receive the input that associates the image captured by the device with the selected profile.

2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving, via the touchscreen, input indicative of a selection of the image captured by the device; and

rendering, via the touchscreen, the identifier of the particular one of the plurality of recognized people authorized to be present at the location and an icon configured to receive the input that associates the image with the selected profile.

3 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

rendering, via the touchscreen, a first control configured to receive a selection of the selected profile; and

rendering, via the touchscreen, a second control configured to receive a command to create a new profile.

4 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

rendering, via the touchscreen, a plurality of face clip controls, each of which represents one or more previously-captured images of people observed to be present at the location;

wherein the input that associates the image captured by the device with the selected profile includes a selection of one or more of the face clip controls.

5 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising, before receiving the input, rendering, via the touchscreen, data that identifies the profile of the particular one of the plurality of recognized people authorized to be present at the location.

6 . A computing system comprising a memory and at least one processor coupled with the memory, the at least one processor configured to:

render, via a touchscreen, an image captured by a device, the image including at least a portion of an observed person at a location under surveillance by a system that includes the device;

render, via the touchscreen, a plurality of profile images, individual profile images of the plurality of profile images representing a previously defined profile of one of a plurality of recognized people authorized to be present at the location;

receive, via the touchscreen, input that associates the image captured by the device with a selected one of the previously defined profiles, the selected profile defined for a particular one of the plurality of recognized people authorized to be present at the location;

apply, in response to the input, a setting that defines how the system responds to detection of one of the plurality of recognized people authorized to be present at the location, wherein the setting specifies that the system will withhold remote notification of the detection to a remote monitoring interface that forms part of the system; and

render, via the touchscreen, a save profile screen that includes:

a first control configured to receive an identifier of the particular one of the plurality of recognized people authorized to be present at the location;

a listing of one or more images associated with the selected profile, the listing including the image captured by the device; and

a second control configured to receive the input that associates the image captured by the device with the selected profile.

7 . The computing system of claim 6 , wherein the at least one processor is further configured to:

receive, via the touchscreen, input indicative of a selection of the image captured by the device; and

render, via the touchscreen, the identifier of the particular one of the plurality of recognized people authorized to be present at the location and an icon configured to receive the input that associates the image with the selected profile.

8 . The computing system of claim 6 , wherein the at least one processor is further configured to:

render, via the touchscreen, a first control configured to receive a selection of the selected profile; and

render, via the touchscreen, a second control configured to receive a command to create a new profile.

9 . The computing system of claim 6 , wherein the at least one processor is further configured to:

render, via the touchscreen, a plurality of face clip controls, each of which represents one or more previously-captured images of people observed to be present at the location;

wherein the input that associates the image captured by the device with the selected profile includes a selection of one or more of the face clip controls.

10 . The computing system of claim 6 , wherein the at least one processor is further configured to, before receiving the input, render, via the touchscreen, data that identifies the profile of the particular one of the plurality of recognized people authorized to be present at the location.

11 . One or more non-transitory computer readable media storing sequences of instructions executable by at least one processor to:

render, via a touchscreen, an image captured by a device, the image including at least a portion of an observed person at a location under surveillance by a system that includes the device;

render, via the touchscreen, a plurality of profile images, individual profile images of the plurality of profile images representing a previously defined profile of one of a plurality of recognized people authorized to be present at the location;

receive, via the touchscreen, input that associates the image captured by the device with a selected one of the previously defined profiles, the selected profile defined for a particular one of the plurality of recognized people authorized to be present at the location;

apply, in response to the input, a setting that defines how the system responds to detection of one of the plurality of recognized people authorized to be present at the location, wherein the setting specifies that the system will withhold remote notification of the detection to a remote monitoring interface that forms part of the system; and

render, via the touchscreen, a save profile screen that includes:

a first control configured to receive an identifier of the particular one of the plurality of recognized people authorized to be present at the location;

a listing of one or more images associated with the selected profile, the listing including the image captured by the device; and

a second control configured to receive the input that associates the image captured by the device with the selected profile.

12 . The one or more non-transitory computer readable media of claim 11 , wherein the sequences of instructions are further executable by the at least one processor to:
