Abstract

A garment is provided. The garment includes a body provided in the form of a front lower torso portion and a rear lower torso portion, a waist opening, left and right leg openings, and a pouch disposed at least in part in the front lower torso portion. The pouch includes a first pouch panel and a second pouch panel. Each of the first and second pouch panels includes a first fabric layer coupled to a second fabric layer. The first fabric layer of the first pouch panel and the second pouch panel are designed to transport liquid away from a lower torso region of a wearer.

Claims (49)

1 . A lower torso garment comprising:

a body provided in the form of a front lower torso portion and a rear lower torso portion coupled together to define a waist opening;

a pouch disposed at least partially in the front lower torso portion and imparted with moisture-management properties, the pouch including:

a fly panel assembly arranged to be adjacent to a body of a wearer when the lower torso garment is worn in an intended configuration,

a cover panel assembly positioned adjacent to the fly panel assembly, wherein the fly panel assembly and the cover panel assembly each include a technical face and a technical back, wherein the technical face of the fly panel assembly is imparted with a first texture to facilitate moisture transport, and wherein the technical back of the fly panel assembly is imparted with a second texture different from the first texture, and

a fly opening at least partially defined by the fly panel assembly and the cover panel assembly.

2 . The lower torso garment of claim 1 , wherein a portion of the fly panel assembly is decoupled from the lower torso garment, and wherein a portion of the cover panel assembly is decoupled from the lower torso garment.

3 . The lower torso garment of claim 1 , wherein:

the pouch is coupled to the body via a first pouch seam, a second pouch seam, and a third pouch seam,

the first pouch seam and the second pouch seam couple two or more fabric layers of the pouch together,

the first pouch seam and the second pouch seam couple the fly panel assembly and the cover panel assembly to the front lower torso portion, and

the third pouch seam couples the pouch to a gusset or the rear lower torso portion.

4 . The lower torso garment of claim 1 , wherein the fly panel assembly includes at least one fabric layer comprising a moisture-absorbent mesh and at least one fabric layer comprising a blend of hydrophobic and hydrophilic materials.

The lower torso garment of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the fly panel assembly and the cover panel assembly is treated with one or more agents selected from a group consisting of a wicking agent, a soil release agent, an odor control agent, a water-repelling agent, a water-resistant agent, an antibacterial agent, an antimicrobial agent, a hygiene agent, and combinations thereof.

6 . The lower torso garment of claim 1 , wherein:

a first seam couples the fly panel assembly to the front lower torso portion,

a second seam positioned opposite of the first seam couples a first fabric layer and a second fabric layer of the fly panel assembly,

a third seam positioned opposite of the first seam couples the cover panel assembly to the front lower torso portion,

the second seam is proximate to the fly opening.

7 . The lower torso garment of claim 6 , wherein the second seam is provided in the form of a fold-over seam, and the fold-over seam is coupled to the third seam.

8 . The lower torso garment of claim 1 , wherein the technical face of the fly panel assembly includes one or more pores designed to facilitate a transport of moisture.

9 . The lower torso garment of claim 1 , wherein the lower torso garment further includes a rear panel positioned on the rear lower torso portion, and the rear panel is imparted with moisture management properties.

10 . The lower torso garment of claim 1 , wherein:

the body comprises a first fabric,

the fly panel assembly and the cover panel assembly each comprise a second fabric, wherein the first fabric and the second fabric are imparted with a same fabric blend; and

the fly panel assembly and the cover panel assembly further comprise a third fabric.

The lower torso garment of claim 1 , wherein a seam couples a first fabric layer and a second fabric layer of the fly panel assembly, and wherein the seam is provided in the form of one or more of a fold-over seam, a chainstitched seam, a flatlock seam, a lockstitch seam, or an overlock stitched seam.

12 . The lower torso garment of claim 1 , wherein a first fabric layer of the fly panel assembly is configured to transport moisture away from the body of the wearer.

13 . A lower torso garment comprising:

a body provided in the form of a front lower torso portion and a rear lower torso portion coupled together to define a waist opening;

a pouch disposed at least partially in the front lower torso portion and imparted with moisture-management properties, the pouch including:

a fly panel assembly arranged to be adjacent to a body of a wearer when the lower torso garment is worn in an intended configuration, wherein the fly panel assembly includes a first fabric layer configured to transport moisture away from the body of the wearer, a second fabric layer positioned proximate to an exterior of the lower torso garment, and a third fabric layer positioned between the first and second fabric layers, the third fabric layer provided in substantially the same form as the first fabric layer,

a cover panel assembly positioned adjacent to the fly panel assembly, and

a fly opening at least partially defined by the fly panel assembly and the cover panel assembly.

14 . The lower torso garment of claim 13 , wherein one or more of the first fabric layer, the second fabric layer, or the third fabric layer of the fly panel assembly is laminated with a hydrophobic film.

15 . The lower torso garment of claim 13 , wherein the fly panel assembly includes a technical face that is imparted with one or more pores designed to facilitate transport of moisture.

16 . The lower torso garment of claim 15 , wherein the fly panel assembly includes a technical back, and wherein the technical back is imparted with a texture that is different than a texture of the technical face.

17 . The lower torso garment of claim 13 , wherein a first perimeter edge of the first fabric layer is coupled to a second perimeter edge of the second fabric layer by a seam.

18 . The lower torso garment of claim 13 , wherein the first fabric layer and the second fabric layer of the fly panel assembly are substantially coextensive.

19 . A lower torso garment comprising:

a body provided in the form of a front lower torso portion and a rear lower torso portion coupled together to define a waist opening; and

a pouch disposed at least partially in the front lower torso portion and imparted with moisture-management properties, the pouch including:

a fly panel assembly arranged to be adjacent to a body of a wearer when the lower torso garment is worn in an intended configuration;

a cover panel assembly positioned adjacent to the fly panel assembly;

a fly opening at least partially defined by the fly panel assembly and the cover panel assembly;

a first seam coupling the fly panel assembly to the front lower torso portion;

a second seam positioned opposite of the first seam, wherein the second seam couples a first fabric layer and a second fabric layer of the fly panel assembly and is positioned and located proximate to the fly opening; and

a third seam positioned opposite of the first seam that couples the cover panel assembly to the front lower torso portion.

20 . The lower torso garment of claim 19 , wherein one or more of the first fabric layer and the second fabric layer of the fly panel assembly includes a textured technical face designed to draw moisture away from the wearer.
