Abstract

Embodiments are presented herein of apparatuses, systems, and methods for a user equipment device (UE) and/or cellular network to perform downlink control information (DCI) mode signaling and control resource set (CORESET) selection. A DCI mode may be signaled based on a predefined rule, media access control (MAC) control element (CE), and/or group based beam reporting. One or more CORESETs may be selected based on configuration of an active bandwidth part (BWP), CORESET identifier, higher layer index, periodicity, type of search space, and/or MAC CE.

Claims (37)

1 . A processor configured to:

receive signaling including one or more higher layer indices for two or more control resources sets (CORESETs);

determine whether to operate in a single DCI or multi DCI mode, wherein:

if different higher layer indices of the one or more higher layer indices are configured for the two or more CORESETs, a multi-DCI mode is determined; or

otherwise, a single-DCI mode is determined; and

receive one or more DCIs according to the determined DCI mode.

2 . The processor of claim 1 , further configured to perform a second determination of a DCI mode at a later time, wherein the second determination does not result in a DCI mode switch.

3 . The processor of claim 2 , wherein the second determination is not based on whether different higher layer indices are configured for the two or more CORESETs.

4 . The processor of claim 1 , wherein a determination of whether a number of transmission configuration indicator (TCI) states is greater than 1 is performed periodically.

5 . The processor of claim 1 , wherein the single-DCI mode includes receiving DCI from a single base station that is applicable to at least one additional base station.

6 . The processor of claim 1 , wherein the determined DCI mode is a single-DCI mode, wherein the processor is further configured to determine a number of CORESETs to monitor in the single-DCI mode.

7 . The processor of claim 6 , wherein to determine the number of CORESETs includes receiving a media access control (MAC) control element (CE).

8 . A non-transitory computer readable medium (NTCRM), comprising: program instructions, the program instructions configured to cause a processor to perform operations comprising:

receiving signaling including one or more higher layer indices for two or more control resources sets (CORESETs);

determining whether to operate in a single DCI or multi DCI mode, wherein:

if different higher layer indices of the one or more higher layer indices are configured for the two or more CORESETs, a multi-DCI mode is determined; or

otherwise, a single-DCI mode is determined; and

receiving one or more DCIs according to the determined DCI mode.

9 . The NTCRM of claim 8 , the operations further comprising performing a second determination of a DCI mode at a later time, wherein the second determination does not result in a DCI mode switch.

10 . The NTCRM of claim 9 , wherein the second determination is not based on whether different higher layer indices are configured for the two or more CORESETs.

11 . The NTCRM of claim 8 , further comprising periodically performing determination of whether a number of transmission configuration indicator (TCI) states is greater than 1.

12 . The NTCRM of claim 8 , wherein the single-DCI mode includes receiving DCI from a single base station that is applicable to at least one additional base station.

13 . The NTCRM of claim 8 , wherein the determined DCI mode is a single-DCI mode, wherein the operations further comprise determining a number of CORESETs to monitor in the single-DCI mode.

14 . A processor configured to:

communicate with a cellular network according to a first downlink control information (DCI) mode;

receive first DCI from the cellular network according to the first DCI mode;

determine whether different higher layer indices are configured for two or more control resources sets (CORESETs);

select a second DCI mode, wherein the first DCI mode is different than the second DCI mode, based on the determination, wherein:

if different higher layer indices are configured for two or more CORESETs, a multi-DCI mode is selected as the second DCI mode; or

otherwise, a single-DCI mode is selected as the second DCI mode; and

receive a DCI from the cellular network according to the second DCI mode.

15 . The processor of claim 14 , wherein the processor is further configured to perform a second selection of a DCI mode at a later time, wherein the second selection does not result in a DCI mode switch.

16 . The processor of claim 15 , wherein the second selection is not based on whether different higher layer indices are configured for two or more CORESETs.

17 . The processor of claim 14 , wherein a determination of whether a number of transmission configuration indicator (TCI) states is greater than 1 is performed periodically.

18 . The processor of claim 14 , wherein the single-DCI mode includes receiving DCI from a single base station that is applicable to at least one additional base station.

19 . The processor of claim 14 , wherein the second DCI mode is a single-DCI mode, wherein the processor is further configured to determine a number of CORESETs to monitor in the single-DCI mode.

20 . The processor of claim 19 , wherein to determine the number of CORESETs includes receiving a media access control (MAC) control element (CE).
