Method and apparatus for handling temporary UE capability changes in MUSIM operation in a wireless communication system
A user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system is provided. The UE includes a transceiver, memory storing one or more computer programs, and one or more processors communicatively coupled to the transceiver and the memory, wherein the one or more computer programs include computer-executable instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the UE to receive, from a base station, a system information block (SIB) including a first indication on whether a transmission of a second indication is allowed, identify that a UE capability is restricted for a multi-universal subscriber identity module (MUSIM), and transmit, to the base station, a radio resource control (RRC) message including the second indication indicating a UE temporary capability restriction due to the MUSIM operation.
1 . A user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system, the UE comprising:
a transceiver; and
a controller coupled with the transceiver, and configured to:
receive, from a base station, a system information block (SIB) including a first indication on whether a transmission of a second indication is allowed,
identify that a UE capability is restricted for a multi-universal subscriber identity module (MUSIM) operation,
transmit, to the base station, a radio resource control (RRC) message including the second indication indicating a UE temporary capability restriction due to the MUSIM operation,
receive, from the base station, information configuring a timer for the restricted UE capability for the MUSIM operation, and
if the UE has a temporary capability restriction on a current configuration of the UE:
transmit, to the base station, a message for requesting a release of a configuration of the UE; and
start the timer.
2 . The UE of claim 1 , wherein the RRC message includes an RRC setup complete message or an RRC resume complete message.
3 . The UE of claim 1 , wherein the timer is stopped upon a reception of an RRC reconfiguration message.
4 . A base station (BS) in a wireless communication system, the BS comprising:
a transceiver; and
a controller coupled with the transceiver, and configured to:
transmit, to a user equipment (UE), a system information block (SIB) including a first indication on whether a reception of a second indication is allowed,
receive, from the UE, a radio resource control (RRC) message including the second indication indicating a UE temporary capability restriction due to a multi-universal subscriber identity module (MUSIM) operation,
transmit, to the UE, information configuring a timer for the restricted UE capability for the MUSIM operation, the timer being started if the UE has a temporary capability restriction on a current configuration of the UE, and
receive, from the UE, a message for requesting a release of a configuration of the UE.
5 . The BS of claim 4 , wherein the RRC message includes an RRC setup complete message or an RRC resume complete message.
6 . The BS of claim 4 , wherein the timer is stopped upon a reception of an RRC reconfiguration message.
7 . A method performed by a user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system, the method comprising:
receiving, from a base station, a system information block (SIB) including a first indication on whether a transmission of a second indication is allowed;
identifying that a UE capability is restricted for a multi-universal subscriber identity module (MUSIM) operation;
transmitting, to the base station, a radio resource control (RRC) message including the second indication indicating a UE temporary capability restriction due to the MUSIM operation;
receiving, from the base station, information configuring a timer for the restricted UE capability for the MUSIM operation; and
if the UE has a temporary capability restriction on a current configuration of the UE:
transmitting, to the base station, a message for requesting a release of a configuration of the UE, and
starting the timer.
8 . The method of claim 7 , wherein the RRC message includes an RRC setup complete message or an RRC resume complete message.
9 . The method of claim 7 , wherein the timer is stopped upon a reception of an RRC reconfiguration message.
10 . A method performed by a base station (BS) in a wireless communication system, the method comprising:
transmitting, to a user equipment (UE), a system information block (SIB) including a first indication on whether a reception of a second indication is allowed;
receiving, from the UE, a radio resource control (RRC) message including the second indication indicating a UE temporary capability restriction due to a multi-universal subscriber identity module (MUSIM) operation;
transmitting, to the UE, information configuring a timer for the restricted UE capability for the MUSIM operation, the timer being started if the UE has a temporary capability restriction on a current configuration of the UE; and
receiving, from the UE, a message for requesting a release of a configuration of the UE.
11 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the RRC message includes an RRC setup complete message or an RRC resume complete message.
12 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the timer is stopped upon a reception of an RRC reconfiguration message.
