Abstract

Methods and user equipment of sidelink discontinuous reception (SL-DRX) are provided. The method includes: rejecting a SL-DRX configuration of a sidelink service by transmitting one of a first signaling and a second signaling with a sidelink destination identity to a serving cell of the first UE according to a cast type of the sidelink service, wherein the sidelink destination identity is associated with the sidelink service and the SL-DRX configuration is configured by the serving cell; and in response to rejecting the SL-DRX configuration, disabling a SL-DRX mechanism for the sidelink service and the sidelink destination identity.

Claims (48)

1 . A method performed by a first user equipment (UE) for sidelink discontinuous reception (SL-DRX), the method comprising:

receiving an SL-DRX configuration of a sidelink service from a serving cell of the first UE;

rejecting the SL-DRX configuration of the sidelink service by:

transmitting, to the serving cell of the first UE, first signaling comprising an SL-DRX reject indication with a sidelink destination identity in a case that a cast type of the sidelink service is a sidelink unicast service, and

transmitting, to the serving cell of the first UE, second signaling comprising a second SL-DRX indication with the sidelink destination identity in a case that the cast type of the sidelink service is a sidelink groupcast service, wherein:

the SL-DRX reject indication indicates a sidelink failure event associated with a PC5 radio resource control (RRC) connection between the first UE and a second UE,

the second SL-DRX indication indicates that an SL-DRX mechanism has not been applied for the sidelink destination identity for the sidelink groupcast service, and

the sidelink destination identity is associated with the sidelink service; and

in response to rejecting the SL-DRX configuration, disabling the SL-DRX mechanism for the sidelink service and the sidelink destination identity.

2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

transmitting sidelink control signaling to the second UE via the PC5 RRC connection established between the first UE and the second UE; and

receiving an SL-DRX reject message from the second UE after transmitting the sidelink control signaling,

wherein transmitting the first signaling comprises transmitting the first signaling to the serving cell after receiving the SL-DRX reject message.

3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the SL-DRX reject message comprises an RRCReconfigurationCompletesidelink message, wherein the sidelink control signaling comprises an RRCReconfigurationsidelink message.

4 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving a second SL-DRX configuration via one of broadcasting system information or UE-specific dedicated control signaling when the cast type is the sidelink groupcast service; and

applying the second SL-DRX configuration to a plurality of sidelink groupcast services implemented by the first UE.

5 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving the SL-DRX configuration via UE-specific dedicated control signaling when the cast type is the sidelink unicast service.

6 . A first user equipment (UE), comprising:

at least one processor; and

at least one non-transitory computer-readable medium coupled to the at least one processor and storing one or more computer-executable instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the first UE to:

receive an SL-DRX configuration of a sidelink service from a serving cell of the first UE;

reject the SL-DRX configuration of the sidelink service by:

transmitting, to the serving cell of the first UE, first signaling comprising an SL-DRX reject indication with a sidelink destination identity in a case that a cast type of the sidelink service is a sidelink unicast service, and

transmitting, to the serving cell of the first UE, second signaling comprising a second SL-DRX indication with the sidelink destination identity in a case that the cast type of the sidelink service is a sidelink groupcast service, wherein:

the SL-DRX reject indication indicates a sidelink failure event associated with a PC5 radio resource control (RRC) connection between the first UE and a second UE,

the second SL-DRX indication indicates that an SL-DRX mechanism has not been applied for the sidelink destination identity for the sidelink groupcast service, and

the sidelink destination identity is associated with the sidelink service; and

in response to rejecting the SL-DRX configuration, disable the SL-DRX mechanism for the sidelink service and the sidelink destination identity.

7 . The first UE of claim 6 , wherein the one or more computer-executable instructions, when executed by the at least one processor, further cause the first UE to:

transmit sidelink control signaling to the second UE via the PC5 RRC connection established between the first UE and the second UE; and

receive an SL-DRX reject message from the second UE after transmitting the sidelink control signaling,

wherein transmitting the first signaling comprises transmitting the first signaling to the serving cell after receiving the SL-DRX reject message.

8 . The first UE of claim 7 , wherein the SL-DRX reject message comprises an RRCReconfigurationCompletesidelink message, wherein the sidelink control signaling comprises an RRCReconfigurationsidelink message.

9 . The first UE of claim 6 , wherein the one or more computer-executable instructions, when executed by the at least one processor, further cause the first UE to:

receive a second SL-DRX configuration via one of broadcasting system information or UE-specific dedicated control signaling when the cast type is the sidelink groupcast service; and

apply the second SL-DRX configuration to a plurality of sidelink groupcast services implemented by the first UE.

10 . The first UE of claim 6 , wherein the one or more computer-executable instructions, when executed by the at least one processor, further cause the first UE to:

receive the SL-DRX configuration via UE-specific dedicated control signaling when the cast type is the sidelink unicast service.

11 . A method performed by a base station for sidelink discontinuous reception (SL-DRX), the method comprising:

transmitting an SL-DRX configuration of a sidelink service to a user equipment (UE);

receiving, from the UE, a rejection of the SL-DRX configuration of the sidelink service via:

receiving first signaling comprising an SL-DRX reject indication from the UE, wherein the first signaling is determined in a case that a cast type of the sidelink service is a sidelink unicast service, and

receiving second signaling comprising a second SL-DRX indication from the UE, wherein the second signaling is determined in a case that the cast type of the sidelink service is a sidelink groupcast service, wherein:

the SL-DRX reject indication indicates a sidelink failure event associated with a PC5 radio resource control (RRC) connection between the UE and a second UE, and

the second SL-DRX indication indicates that an SL-DRX mechanism has not been applied for the sidelink groupcast service; and

in response to receiving the rejection of the SL-DRX configuration of the sidelink service, disabling an SL-DRX mechanism for the sidelink service.
