Abstract

Provided is a method, performed by a relay user equipment (UE), of relaying communication between a remote UE and a base station, in a wireless communication system. The method includes: transmitting, to the base station, a message about sidelink UE information including first identifier information of the remote UE; receiving, from the base station, a radio resource control (RRC) reconfiguration message including configuration information for relaying data of the remote UE and second identifier information, based on the message about the sidelink UE information; and transmitting the data of the remote UE to the base station, based on the RRC reconfiguration message.

Claims (37)

1 . A method performed by a user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system, the method comprising:

transmitting, to a base station, a sidelink UE information message including information indicating that the UE is acting as a relay UE, information associated with an identifier (ID) for a remote UE and transmission (TX) resource request information for a sidelink communication;

receiving, from the base station, a radio resource control (RRC) reconfiguration message associated with a relay operation, the RRC reconfiguration message including identification information of the remote UE used in a sidelink relay adaptation protocol (RAP); and

performing the relay operation, based on the RRC reconfiguration message,

wherein the RRC reconfiguration message further includes information indicating a list of one or more Uu relay radio link control (RLC) channel IDs corresponding to one or more Uu relay RLC channels to be added or modified, and information indicating a list of one or more Uu relay RLC channel IDs corresponding to one or more Uu relay RLC channels to be released.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the information associated with the ID for the remote UE includes a layer-2 identifier (L2ID) of the remote UE.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the sidelink UE information message is associated with sidelink discovery related information.

4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the RRC reconfiguration message includes configuration information associated with a PC5 RLC channel between the relay UE and the remote UE.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the RRC reconfiguration message includes RAP configuration information.

6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the sidelink UE information message is associated with a relay configuration request.

7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the RRC reconfiguration message is associated with mapping information between a radio bearer of the remote UE and a Uu RLC channel.

8 . A method performed by a base station in a wireless communication system, the method comprising:

receiving, from a user equipment (UE), a sidelink UE information message including information indicating that the UE is acting as a relay UE, information associated with an identifier (ID) for a remote UE and transmission (TX) resource request information for a sidelink communication;

transmitting, to the UE, a radio resource control (RRC) reconfiguration message associated with a relay operation, the RRC reconfiguration message including identification information of the remote UE used in a sidelink relay adaptation protocol (RAP); and

receiving uplink data from the remote UE via the UE acting as the relay UE or transmitting downlink data to the remote UE via the UE acting as the relay UE, based on the relay operation associated with the RRC reconfiguration message,

wherein the RRC reconfiguration message further includes information indicating a list of one or more Uu relay radio link control (RLC) channel IDs corresponding to one or more Uu relay RLC channels to be added or modified, and information indicating a list of one or more Uu relay RLC channel IDs corresponding to one or more Uu relay RLC channels to be released.

9 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the information associated with the ID for the remote UE includes a layer-2 identifier (L2ID) of the remote UE.

10 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the sidelink UE information message is associated with sidelink discovery related information.

11 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the RRC reconfiguration message includes configuration information associated with a PC5 RLC channel between the relay UE and the remote UE.

12 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the sidelink UE information message is associated with a relay configuration request.

13 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the RRC reconfiguration message is associated with mapping information between a radio bearer of the remote UE and a Uu RLC channel.

14 . A user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system, the UE comprising:

at least one transceiver;

at least one processor communicatively coupled to the at least one transceiver; and

at least one memory, communicatively coupled to the at least one processor, storing instructions executable by the at least one processor to cause the UE to:

transmit, to a base station, a sidelink UE information message including information indicating that the UE is acting as a relay UE, information associated with an identifier (ID) for a remote UE and transmission (TX) resource request information for a sidelink communication;

receive, from the base station, a radio resource control (RRC) reconfiguration message associated with a relay operation, the RRC reconfiguration message including identification information of the remote UE used in a sidelink relay adaptation protocol (RAP); and

perform the relay operation, based on the RRC reconfiguration message,

wherein the RRC reconfiguration message further includes information indicating a list of one or more Uu relay radio link control (RLC) channel IDs corresponding to one or more Uu relay RLC channels to be added or modified, and information indicating a list of one or more Uu relay RLC channel IDs corresponding to one or more Uu relay RLC channels to be released.

15 . A base station in a wireless communication system, the base station comprising:

at least one transceiver;

at least one processor communicatively coupled to the at least one transceiver: and

at least one memory, communicatively coupled to the at least one processor, storing instructions executable by the at least one processor to cause the base station to;

receive, from a user equipment (UE), a sidelink UE information message including information indicating that the UE is acting as a relay UE, information associated with an identifier (ID) for a remote UE and transmission (TX) resource request information for a sidelink communication;

transmit, to the UE, a radio resource control (RRC) reconfiguration message associated with a relay operation, the RRC reconfiguration message including identification information of the remote UE used in a sidelink relay adaptation protocol (RAP); and

receive uplink data from the remote UE via the UE acting as the relay UE or transmit downlink data to the remote UE via the UE acting as the relay UE, based on the relay operation associated with the RRC reconfiguration message,
