Abstract

The device ( 1 ) for wire sawing of a piece ( 10 ) to be sawed that is mounted on a support table ( 20 ) comprises fastening means ( 15, 26, 40 ) for fastening said piece ( 10 ) to be sawed to a carriage ( 18 ) apt to cooperate with a guide rail of said support table ( 20 ), said fastening means ( 15, 26, 40 ) consisting of a mounting plate ( 15 ) apt to be manufactured to which said piece ( 10 ) to be sawed is bonded, and of anchoring means ( 26, 40 ) for anchoring said mounting plate ( 15 ) directly on said carriage ( 18 ).

Claims (42)

1. An apparatus for mounting a workpiece in a wire sawing device, comprising:

an elongated extruded ceramic plate having a substantially flat workpiece bonding surface and a substantially flat carriage receiving surface opposite the bonding surface; and

at least one extruded ceramic anchoring groove formed in the carriage receiving surface of the elongated extruded ceramic plate, wherein the anchoring groove is configured to interface with anchoring screws to secure a carriage to the carriage receiving surface.

2. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the at least one extruded ceramic anchoring groove has a trapezoidal profile.

3. The apparatus of claim 2 , wherein the plate comprises a ceramic material.

4. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the plate and the at least one groove are formed by extruding a ceramic material.

5. An apparatus for mounting a workpiece in a wire sawing device, comprising:

an elongated extruded ceramic plate having a substantially flat workpiece bonding surface and a mounting surface;

a first anchoring groove formed in the mounting surface and configured to interface with anchoring screws to secure a carriage to the bonding surface; and

at least one channel formed at least partially in the elongated extruded ceramic plate.

6. The apparatus of claim 5 , wherein the elongated extruded ceramic plate has at least a second anchoring groove disposed on the mounting surface of the elongated extruded plate opposite to the substantially flat workpiece bonding surface.

7. The apparatus of claim 5 , wherein the at least one channel is disposed parallel to the substantially flat workpiece bonding surface.

8. The apparatus of claim 5 , wherein the ceramic plate is formed by extruding a ceramic material.

9. A mounting plate and workpiece for processing in a wire sawing device, comprising:

an elongated extruded ceramic plate, wherein the elongated extruded ceramic plate is configured to be mounted on a support table by a carriage, wherein the elongated extruded ceramic plate comprises:

a substantially flat first surface;

at least one extruded ceramic anchoring groove disposed on a side of the elongated extruded ceramic plate opposite the substantially flat first surface and configured to interface with anchoring screws to secure a carriage to the ceramic plate; and

at least one channel disposed in the elongated extruded ceramic plate, wherein the at least one channel is parallel to the substantially flat first surface.

10. The mounting plate of claim 9 , further comprising a workpiece coupled to the substantially flat first surface, wherein the workpiece comprises an ingot formed from a material selected from a group consisting of silicon, sapphire, ceramics, and group III-V compounds.

11. A method of forming a mounting plate that is to be used in a wire sawing device, comprising:

forming an elongated extruded ceramic mounting plate having at least one extruded ceramic anchoring groove disposed on a side of the elongated extruded ceramic mounting plate, wherein the elongated extruded ceramic plate is configured to interface with anchoring screws to secure a carriage to the bonding surface.

12. The method of claim 11 , wherein the at least one extruded ceramic anchoring groove has a trapezoidal profile.

13. The method of claim 11 , further comprising:

bonding a workpiece to a substantially flat first surface of the elongated extruded ceramic mounting plate, wherein the at least one extruded ceramic anchoring groove is disposed on a side opposite the substantially flat first surface.

14. The method of claim 13 , wherein the workpiece comprises an ingot formed from a material selected from a group consisting of silicon, sapphire, ceramics, and group III-V compounds.

15. An apparatus for processing a workpiece, comprising:

a support table;

an ingot holder coupled to the support table, comprising:

a mounting plate having a workpiece bonding surface and at least one groove formed at least partially in the mounting plate; and

a fluid source coupled to a channel formed in the mounting plate.

16. The apparatus of claim 15 , further comprising:

a plurality of parallel wires having a spaced apart relationship; and

at least two wire guide cylinders, wherein each of the plurality of parallel wires are disposed in a groove provided on the surface of each of the at least two wire guide cylinders.

17. A method of sawing a workpiece, comprising:

urging a workpiece bonded to a ceramic mounting plate against a plurality of wires to form a plurality of slices in the workpiece, wherein the ceramic mounting plate comprises a first surface and at least one groove that is disposed on a side of the ceramic mounting plate opposite the first surface, and the plurality of wires are moved relative to the workpiece; and

flowing a fluid into one or more channels formed in the ceramic mounting plate while the workpiece is urged against the plurality of wires.

18. The method of claim 17 , further comprising delivering a rinsing liquid to the at least one channel formed in the mounting plate after the plurality of wires have penetrated the at least one channel.

19. The apparatus of claim 15 , wherein the at least one groove has a trapezoidal profile and is disposed on a side of the mounting plate opposite to the workpiece bonding surface.

20. The apparatus of claim 19 , wherein the mounting plate comprises a ceramic material.

21. The method of claim 17 , wherein the ceramic mounting plate comprises extruded ceramic material, and wherein the at least one groove has a trapezoidal profile.

22. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the at least one extruded ceramic anchoring groove has a rectangular profile.

23. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the at least one extruded ceramic anchoring groove includes two extruded ceramic anchoring grooves.
