Abstract

In a first embodiment a TAP 318 of IEEE standard 1149.1 is allowed to commandeer control from a WSP 202 of IEEE standard P1500 such that the P1500 architecture, normally controlled by the WSP, is rendered controllable by the TAP. In a second embodiment (1) the TAP and WSP based architectures are merged together such that the sharing of the previously described architectural elements are possible, and (2) the TAP and WSP test interfaces are merged into a single optimized test interface that is operable to perform all operations of each separate test interface.

Claims (9)

1. An integrated circuit comprising:

A. a TDI lead, a TDO lead, a TMS lead, and a TCK lead;

B. a test access port controller having inputs connected to the TMS and TCK leads and having a ClockDR output, a ShiftDR output, and an UpdateDR output;

C. instruction register circuitry having a Mode- 1 output and an ATC enable output, the instruction register circuitry including a first gate with a ClockDR input connected to the ClockDR output and a Clock- 1 output, and a second gate with a gated UpdateDR input and an Update- 1 output;

D. data register circuitry having a TDI input connected to the TDI lead, a TDO output selectively coupled to the TDO lead, a Mode- 1 input connected to the Mode- 1 output, a Clock- 1 input connected to the Clock- 1 output, a Shift- 1 input, and an Update- 1 input connected to the Update- 1 output; and

E. ATC gating circuitry having an ATC enable input connected to the ATC enable output, an UpdateDR input connected to the UpdateDR output, an Update input, and a gated UpdateDR output connected to the gated UpdateDR input.

2. The integrated circuit of claim 1 in which the Update input is part of an auxiliary test control bus of leads that includes a Clock lead, a Shift lead, a Capture lead, a Transfer lead, a Reset lead, a Select lead, a WSI lead, and a WSO lead.

3. The integrated circuit of claim 1 including multiplexing circuitry selectively coupling the TDO output of the data register to the TDO lead.

4. The integrated circuit of claim 1 in which the ATC gating circuitry includes a first gate having the ATC enable input, the Update input, and a gated Update output, and including a second gate having an UpdateDR input connected to the UpdateDR output, a gated Update input connected to the gated Update output, and the gated UpdateDR output.
