Abstract

Medical services are offered by various facilities near a patient's residence. The number of facility options continues to grow and the patients can now identify rankings and offer their own input regarding satisfaction of certain facilities. One example method of operation provides identifying a number of feedback messages associated with a particular medical facility, parsing the feedback messages to identify negative feedback associated with the feedback messages, notifying the medical facility of the negative feedback, and transmitting suggestions to increase productivity and reduce subsequent negative feedback messages for subsequent patient visits to the medical facility.

Claims (83)

1. A method for improving patient care at a medical facility comprising:

accessing a patient profile from an electronic storage location, the patient profile including patient medical data and patient preferences for non-medical aspects of treatment that have been previously acquired from the patient;

generating a patient priority status identifier based on the patient's previous attendance at scheduled appointments and the identifier indicative of a patient's likelihood to fulfill appointment obligations;

generating a weighted listing of options for medical facilities and treatment procedures to the patient, the weighted listing of options based on the patient medical data and the patient preferences for non-medical aspects of treatment;

receiving, from the patient, information relating to a selection by the patient for medical facilities, scheduling of appointments and the patient preferences for non-medical aspects of treatment;

prescribing a medical treatment and appointment for the patient at a medical facility, the medical treatment and appointment utilizing the patient profile and the selection by the patient from the weighted listing of options;

wherein the appointment is based on the patient priority status identifier and includes utilization of limited time slots that are scheduled at off-peak times;

obtaining a feedback message that is provided by the patient, the feedback message indicative of the patient's level of satisfaction with non-medical aspects of the medical facility and the prescribed medical treatment;

identifying a plurality of feedback messages associated with the medical facility;

parsing the feedback messages to identify negative feedback associated with the plurality of feedback messages;

notifying the medical facility of the negative feedback; and

transmitting a plurality of suggestions to increase productivity and reduce subsequent negative feedback messages for subsequent patient visits to the medical facility.

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

identifying a target problem area based on the parsed feedback messages;

retrieving a set of improvement suggestions from a database that correlate to the target problem area;

transmitting the improvement suggestions to the medical facility;

receiving a confirmation that at least one of the improvement suggestions will be enacted;

increasing a service score of the medical facility responsive to receiving the confirmation; and

updating the medical facility service score.

3. The method of claim 2 , further comprising:

transmitting a notification to at least one user associated with a user profile that submitted negative feedback about the medical facility via a survey, the notification indicating the medical facility's compliance with the at least one improvement suggestion and a request to schedule another appointment; and

receiving an appointment confirmation responsive to the transmitted notification.

4. The method of claim 3 , further comprising:

updating the user's medical record to indicate the appointment and the negative feedback about the medical facility.

5. The method of claim 4 , further comprising:

transmitting an appointment notification to the medical facility comprising the appointment time and the negative feedback.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the negative feedback comprises at least one of wait time, prescription compliance, physician conduct, staff conduct, medical treatment, and follow-up compliance.

7. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

identifying a target problem area based on the parsed feedback messages among a plurality of target problem areas comprising patient satisfaction, physician compliance, staff procedures and follow-up procedures.

8. An apparatus for improving patient care at a medical facility comprising:

a processor configured to:

access a patient profile from an electronic storage location, the patient profile including patient medical data and patient preferences for non-medical aspects of treatment that have been previously acquired from the patient;

generate a patient priority status identifier based on the patient's previous attendance at scheduled appointments and the identifier indicative of a patient's likelihood to fulfill appointment obligations;

generate a weighted listing of options for medical facilities and treatment procedures to the patient, the weighted listing of options based on the patient medical data and the patient preferences for non-medical aspects of treatment;

receive, from the patient, information relating to a selection by the patient for medical facilities, scheduling of appointments and the patient preferences for non-medical aspects of treatment;

prescribe a medical treatment and appointment for the patient at a medical facility, the medical treatment and appointment utilizing the patient profile and the selection by the patient from the weighted listing of options;

wherein the appointment is based on the patient priority status identifier and include utilization of limited time slots that are scheduled at off-peak times;

obtain a feedback message that is provided by the patient, the feedback message indicative of the patient's level of satisfaction with non-medical aspects of a medical facility and a prescribed medical treatment;

identify a plurality of feedback messages associated with the medical facility;

parse the feedback messages to identify negative feedback associated with the plurality of feedback messages;

notify the medical facility of the negative feedback; and

a transmitter configured to transmit a plurality of suggestions to increase productivity and reduce subsequent negative feedback messages for subsequent patient visits to the medical facility.

9. The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the processor is further configured to:

identify a target problem area based on the parsed feedback messages;

retrieve a set of improvement suggestions from a database that correlate to the target problem area; and

the transmitter is further configured to:

transmit the improvement suggestions to the medical facility, and receive a confirmation that at least one of the improvement suggestions will be enacted; and

the processor is further configured to:

increase a service score of the medical facility responsive to receiving the confirmation; and

update the medical facility service score.

10. The apparatus of claim 9 , wherein the transmitter is further configured to transmit a notification to at least one user associated with a user profile that submitted negative feedback about the medical facility via a survey, the notification indicating the medical facility's compliance with the at least one improvement suggestion and a request to schedule another appointment, and receive an appointment confirmation responsive to the transmitted notification.

11. The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the processor is further configured to update the user's medical record to indicate the appointment and the negative feedback about the medical facility.

12. The apparatus of claim 11 , further comprising:

transmitting an appointment notification to the medical facility comprising the appointment time and the negative feedback.

13. The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the negative feedback comprises at least one of wait time, prescription compliance, physician conduct, staff conduct, medical treatment, and follow-up compliance.

14. The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the processor is further configured to perform identifying a target problem area based on the parsed feedback messages among a plurality of target problem areas comprising patient satisfaction, physician compliance, staff procedures and follow-up procedures.
