Abstract

The present invention provides novel aspirin derivatives useful for preventing and/or treating cancer. The novel compounds of this invention may be particularly useful for the prevention and/or treatment of cancers affecting the gastrointestinal system, such as colorectal cancer.

Claims (38)

1. A method of treating colorectal cancer in a subject in need thereof, comprising:

administering to said subject a therapeutically effective amount of the following compound:

or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof,

wherein:

R E is —O—C(O)—C 1-3 alkyl;

R F is

 or

wherein n=3, 5, or 7; and

R G is —H or C 1-6 alkyl.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein

R G is —H or -Me; and

R E is —O—C(O)-Me, —O—C(O)-Et, or —O—C(O)-Pr.

3. The method of claim 2 , wherein R E is —O—C(O)-Me and R G is -Me.

4. The method of claim 2 , wherein R F is

and n=3, 5, or 7.

5. The method of claim 2 , wherein R F is

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein said compound has the structure

8. A method of treating lung cancer in a subject in need thereof, comprising:

administering to said subject a therapeutically effective amount of the following compound:

or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof,

wherein:

R E is —O—C(O)—C 1-3 alkyl;

R F is

 or

wherein n=3, 5, or 7; and

R G is —H or C 1-6 alkyl.

9. The method of claim 8 , wherein

R G is —H or -Me; and

R E is —O—C(O)-Me, —O—C(O)-Et, or —O—C(O)-Pr.

10. The method of claim 9 , wherein R E is —O—C(O)-Me and R G is -Me.

11. The method of claim 9 , wherein R F is

and n=3, 5, or 7.

12. The method of claim 9 , wherein R F is

and n=3, 5, or 7.

13. The method of claim 8 , wherein said compound has the structure
