Abstract

System and method for handling a transaction between a waiting party and queuing party include an independent communication system (ICS) managing calls between the waiting party and calling party and handles sensitive data as well as call-attached data. The ICS manages the transaction in different stages and with different levels of sensitivity. Either party is allowed to modify the call or call preferences during the transaction. The ICS works independently from the queuing party calling system.

Claims (11)

1. A system for providing virtual queuing for a plurality of queuing calling systems, the system comprising: at least one remote server and a plurality of local media appliances, wherein the local media appliances are configured to obtain queue and call information from one of the queuing calling systems and to generate queue and call information data related to the queuing calling system, the remote server configured to obtain queue and call information data from the local media appliances and to generate at least one virtual queue for each of the plurality of queuing calling systems, and wherein the remote server generates the virtual queues for the queuing calling systems over the public Internet.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the remote server is configured to use VoIP to communicate with the local media appliances.

3. The system of claim 1 , wherein the remote server is configured to communicate with the local media appliances at different phases with different levels of data sensitivity.

4. The system of claim 1 , further configured to initiate a call-back from a queuing party associated with the queuing calling system to a waiting party in the virtual queue.

5. The system of claim 4 , further comprising a database for selecting a call-back number or a voice address associated with the waiting party.

A method for providing virtual queuing for a plurality of queuing calling systems, the method comprising: using at least one remote server and a plurality of local media appliances, using the local media appliances for obtaining queue and call information from one of the queuing calling systems and generating queue and call information data related to the queuing calling system, using the remote server configured to obtain e queue and call information data from the local media appliances and generating at least one virtual queue for each of the plurality of queuing calling systems, and wherein the remote server generates the virtual queues for the queuing calling systems over the public Internet.

7. The method of claim 6 , further using VoIP for communication between the remote server and the local media appliance.

8. The method of claim 6 , wherein the remote server communicates with the local media appliances at different phases with different levels of data sensitivity.

9. The method of claim 6 , further adapted to initiate a call-back from a queuing party associated with the queuing calling system to a waiting party in the virtual queue.

10. The method of claim 9 , further selecting a call-back number or a voice address from a database associated with the waiting party.

11. A system for providing virtual queuing for a plurality of queuing calling systems, the system comprising: at least one remote server and a plurality of local media appliances, wherein the local media appliances are configured to obtain sensitive queue and call information from one of the queuing calling systems and to generate non-sensitive queue and call information data related to the queuing calling system, the remote server configured to obtain the non-sensitive queue and call information data from the local media appliances and to generate at least one virtual queue for each of the plurality of queuing calling systems, and wherein the remote server generates the virtual queues for the queuing calling systems over the public Internet.
