Abstract

Lactam compounds of Formula I and their use for the treatment of neurological and psychiatric disorders including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorder and insomnia is disclosed.

Claims (13)

1. A compound of Formula V:

or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof:

wherein

represents a single or double bond;

R 5 is —CH(R 10 )−OR 20 or —CH(R 10 )−OC(O)R 20 ;

w is 4;

R 10 is hydrogen; and

R 20 is hydrogen.

2. The compound of claim 1 , wherein

represents a single bond.

3. The compound of claim 1 , wherein R 5 is —CH(R 10 )—OR 20 .

4. The compound of claim 1 , wherein R 5 is —CH(R 10 )—OC(O)R 20 .
