See-through computer display systems
An apparatus includes an eye cover adapted to be removably mounted on a head-worn computer with a see-through computer display and a flexible audio headset mounted to the eye cover. The flexible audio headset is mounted to the eye cover with a magnetic connection.
1. A device comprising:
an eyeglasses frame configured to be worn on the head of a user;
a see-through display coupled to the eyeglasses frame and configured to present, to an eye of the user, a view of image content, concurrently with presenting, to the eye of the user, via the see-through display, a view of a local environment; and
an eye cover configured to removably couple to the eyeglasses frame, wherein the eye cover comprises a light shield,
wherein:
the light shield is configured to occlude the view of the local environment, concurrently with permitting the view of the image content, when the eye cover is removably coupled to the eyeglasses frame, and
the light shield comprises a polarized element.
2. The device of claim 1 , wherein the eye cover comprises an elastomeric material.
3. The device of claim 1 , wherein:
the device further comprises an optical module coupled to the eyeglasses frame and a lens coupled to the eyeglasses frame, and
the lens is configured to obscure a view of the optical module.
4. The device of claim 3 , wherein:
the device further comprises an image source, and
the optical module is configured to receive the image content from the image source.
5. The device of claim 1 , wherein the eye cover comprises a flexible eye cover.
6. The device of claim 1 , wherein the light shield is substantially opaque.
7. The device of claim 1 , wherein said occluding the view of the local environment comprises occluding the view of the local environment for a first eye of the user, concurrently with permitting the view of the local environment for a second eye of the user.
8. The device of claim 1 , wherein said permitting the view of the image content comprises permitting a view of an image of the local environment.
9. The device of claim 8 , wherein the image of the local environment comprises a night vision image of the local environment.
10. A method comprising:
presenting, to an eye of a user, via a see-through display coupled to an eyeglasses frame configured to be worn on the head of the user, a view of image content;
concurrently with said presenting the view of the image content, presenting, to the eye of the user, via the see-through display, a view of a local environment; and
in accordance with a removable coupling of an eye cover to the eyeglasses frame:
occluding, by a light shield of the eye cover, the view of the local environment, wherein the light shield comprises a polarized element; and
permitting the view of the image content.
11. The method of claim 10 , wherein the eye cover comprises an elastomeric material.
12. The method of claim 10 , wherein:
the eyeglasses frame is coupled to an optical module and further coupled to a lens, and
the method further comprises obscuring, by the lens, a view of the optical module.
13. The method of claim 12 , further comprising: receiving, at the optical module from an image source coupled to the eyeglasses frame, the image content.
14. The method of claim 10 , wherein the eye cover comprises a flexible eye cover.
15. The method of claim 10 , wherein the light shield is substantially opaque.
16. The method of claim 10 , wherein said occluding the view of the local environment comprises occluding the view of the local environment for a first eye of the user, concurrently with permitting the view of the local environment for a second eye of the user.
17. The method of claim 10 , wherein said permitting the view of the image content comprises permitting a view of an image of the local environment.
18. The method of claim 17 , wherein the image of the local environment comprises a night vision image of the local environment.
