Abstract

Antibodies directed against laminin B1k are provided.

Claims (42)

1. An isolated monoclonal antibody that binds to domain VI of SEQ ID NO:2.

2. The An isolated monoclonal antibody that binds to domain III of SEQ ID NO:2.

3. An isolated monoclonal antibody that binds to domain II of SEQ ID NO:2.

4. An isolated monoclonal antibody that binds to domain I of SEQ ID NO:2.

5. An isolated monoclonal antibody that binds to domain alpha of SEQ ID NO:2.

6. An isolated monoclonal antibody that binds to EGF domains 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 of SEQ ID NO:2.

7. The monoclonal antibody of claim 1 wherein the antibody is a mouse monoclonal antibody.

8. A method for making a domain-specific antibody, the method comprising:

immunizing an experimental animal with an immunogen comprising an isolated polypeptide that consists of an amino acid sequence of a domain of SEQ ID NO:2 or a fragment of the domain, wherein the domain is selected from the group consisting of:

(a) domain VI,

(b) domain III/V,

(c) domain II,

(d) domain I,

(e) domain alpha,

(f) EGF domain 1,

(g) EGF domain 2,

(h) EGE domain 3,

(i) EGF domain 4,

(j) EGE domain 5 and,

(k) EGF domain 6; and

preparing, from the experimental animal, an antibody that binds to the immunogen.

9. The method of claim 8 , wherein the immunogen is a polypeptide consisting of domain VI of SEQ ID NO:2 or an immunogenic fragment thereof.

10. The method of claim 8 , wherein the immunogen is a polypeptide consisting of domain III/V of SEQ ID NO:2 or an immunogenic fragment thereof.

11. The method of claim 8 , wherein the immunogen is a polypeptide consisting of domain II of SEQ ID NO:2 or an antigenic fragment thereof.

12. The method of claim 8 , wherein the immunogen is a polypeptide consisting of domain I of SEQ ID NO:2 or an antigenic fragment thereof.

13. The method of claim 8 , wherein the immunogen is a polypeptide consisting of domain alpha of SEQ ID NO:2 or an antigenic fragment thereof.

14. The method of claim 8 , wherein the immunogen is a polypeptide consisting of any one of EGF domains 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 SEQ ID NO:2 or an antigenic fragment thereof.

15. The method of any one of claims 8 - 14 , wherein the animal is a mouse.

16. The method of any one of claims 8 - 14 , wherein the antibody is a monoclonal antibody.

17. The monoclonal antibody of claim 2 wherein the antibody is a mouse monoclonal antibody.

18. The monoclonal antibody of claim 3 wherein the antibody is a mouse monoclonal antibody.

19. The monoclonal antibody of claim 4 wherein the antibody is a mouse monoclonal antibody.

20. The monoclonal antibody of claim 5 wherein the antibody is a mouse monoclonal antibody.

21. The monoclonal antibody of claim 6 wherein the antibody is a mouse monoclonal antibody.

22. The monoclonal antibody of claim 7 wherein the antibody is a mouse monoclonal antibody.

23. A substantially pure preparation comprising a monoclonal antibody according to claim 1 .

24. A substantially pure preparation comprising a monoclonal antibody according to claim 2 .

25. A substantially pure preparation comprising a monoclonal antibody according to claim 3 .

26. A substantially pure preparation comprising a monoclonal antibody according to claim 4 .

27. A substantially pure preparation comprising a monoclonal antibody according to claim 5 .

28. A substantially pure preparation comprising a monoclonal antibody according to claim 6 .

29. A substantially pure preparation comprising a monoclonal antibody according to claim 7 .
