Abstract

The present invention relates to new plasma or new platelet-rich plasma preparations, new cell dissociation methods, new cell associations or compositions, a method of preparation thereof, a use thereof, devices for the preparation thereof and preparations containing such a platelet-rich plasma preparation and cell associations or compositions. Specifically, the invention provides plasma or platelet-rich plasma alone or in cell combinations preparations for use in tissue regeneration and bone regeneration and pain reduction.

Claims (43)

1. A medical separator system for preparation of a platelet concentrate, comprising:

a tube adapted to be centrifuged for a length of time and containing only two additives, wherein said two additives are:

a thixotropic gel adapted to separate blood components in whole blood to provide a platelet concentrate containing less than or equal to 1% hematocrit and a pellet containing more than or equal to 99% hematocrit by forming a barrier between plasma and erythrocytes; and

an anticoagulant being adapted to at least reduce coagulation of said whole blood.

2. The medical separator system of claim 1 , wherein said thixotropic gel is adapted to separate said blood components in said whole blood to provide said platelet concentrate containing 2 or more times a normal level of platelets and growth factors compared to said whole blood.

3. The medical separator system of claim 2 , wherein said thixotropic gel is adapted to separate said blood components in said whole blood to provide said platelet concentrate with a platelet yield of 95%±5%.

4. A kit comprising:

the medical separator system of claim 3 ; and

an applicator device for applying said platelet concentrate to a patient for medical, therapeutic, or skincare application.

5. The medical separator system of claim 3 , wherein said tube contains between 1 mL and 3 mL of said thixotropic gel.

6. The medical separator system of claim 1 , wherein said anticoagulant is either a sodium citrate solution or anhydrous sodium citrate.

7. The medical separator system of claim 6 , wherein said anticoagulant is a sodium citrate solution at 0.1 M.

8. The medical separator system of claim 7 , wherein said tube contains 1 mL of said anticoagulant.

9. The medical separator system of claim 6 , wherein a concentration of said anticoagulant is 3.5 mg/mL.

10. A medical separator system for preparation of a platelet concentrate, comprising

a tube adapted to be centrifuged for a length of time and containing only two additives, wherein said two additives are:

a thixotropic gel adapted to separate blood components in whole blood to provide a platelet concentrate containing 2 or more times a normal level of platelets and growth factors compared to said whole blood and a pellet containing more than or equal to 99% hematocrit by forming a barrier between plasma and erythrocytes; and

an anticoagulant being adapted to at least reduce coagulation of said whole blood.

11. The medical separator system of claim 10 , wherein said thixotropic gel is adapted to separate said blood components in said whole blood to provide said platelet concentrate with a platelet yield of 95%±5%.

12. A kit comprising:

the medical separator system of claim 11 ; and

an applicator device for applying said platelet concentrate to a patient for medical, therapeutic, or skincare application.

13. The medical separator system of claim 11 , wherein said tube contains between 1 mL and 3 mL of said thixotropic gel.

14. The medical separator system of claim 10 , wherein said anticoagulant is either a sodium citrate solution or anhydrous sodium citrate.

15. The medical separator system of claim 14 , wherein said anticoagulant is a sodium citrate solution at 0.1 M.

16. The medical separator system of claim 14 , wherein said tube contains 1 mL of said anticoagulant.

17. The medical separator system of claim 14 , wherein a concentration of said anticoagulant is 3.5 mg/mL.

18. A medical separator system for preparation of a platelet concentrate, comprising:

a tube adapted to be centrifuged for a length of time and containing only two additives, wherein said two additives are:

a thixotropic gel adapted to separate blood components in whole blood to provide a platelet concentrate having a platelet yield of 95%±5% by forming a barrier between plasma and erythrocytes; and

an anticoagulant being adapted to at least reduce coagulation of said whole blood.

19. The medical separator system of claim 18 , wherein said tube contains between 1 mL and 3 mL of said thixotropic gel.

20. The medical separator system of claim 19 , wherein said anticoagulant is either a sodium citrate solution or anhydrous sodium citrate.

21. The medical separator system of claim 20 , wherein said anticoagulant is a sodium citrate solution at 0.1 M.

22. The medical separator system of claim 20 , wherein a concentration of said anticoagulant is 3.5 mg/mL.

23. A medical separator system for preparation of a blood concentrate, comprising:

a tube adapted to be centrifuged for a length of time and containing only two additives, wherein said two additives are:

a thixotropic gel adapted to separate blood components in blood to provide a blood concentrate containing less than or equal to 1% hematocrit and a platelet yield of 95%±5% by forming a barrier between plasma and erythrocytes; and

an anticoagulant being adapted to at least reduce coagulation of said blood;

wherein said tube contains between 1 mL and 3 mL of said thixotropic gel.

24. The medical separator system of claim 23 , wherein said blood and said blood concentrate are one of:

whole blood and a platelet concentrate, respectively; or

bone marrow and a bone marrow concentrate, respectively.
