Abstract

A power management system for lighting circuit may include a grid shifting controller that includes a processor and a connection to an external power source. The power management system may also include a communication interface associated with the grid shifting controller. The grid shifting controller may be configured to provide control information to a processor of at least one grid shifting electrical fixture over the communication interface, the control information being configured to direct the at least one grid shifting electrical fixture on the use of power from the external power source and an energy storage device associated with the at least one grid shifting electrical fixture.

Claims (71)

1. A communication device comprising:

a wireless communication interface;

a camera;

a microphone;

a motion sensor;

a speaker;

a processor; and

memory storing instructions executable by the processor, which when executed cause the communication device to:

detect motion using the motion sensor;

capture one or more images using the camera;

capture first sound using the microphone;

cause the wireless communication interface to transmit a motion alert signal, image data representing the one or more images, and first audio data representing the first sound to a client device through a local network after the motion is detected;

cause the wireless communication interface to transmit a signal to at least one lighting device coupled to the local network to control a light source of the at least one lighting device after the motion is detected;

cause the wireless communication interface to receive second audio data from the client device through the local network; and

cause the speaker to output second sound represented by the second audio data.

2. The communication device of claim 1 , the memory storing further instructions executable by the processor, which when executed cause the communication device to:

cause the wireless communication interface to receive an additional signal from the at least one lighting device; and

cause the speaker to output third sound after receiving the additional signal.

3. The communication device of claim 1 , the memory storing further instructions executable by the processor, which when executed cause the communication device to:

cause the wireless communication interface to receive an additional signal from the client device; and

cause the speaker to output third sound after receiving the additional signal.

4. The communication device of claim 1 , further comprising a light source, wherein the memory stores further instructions executable by the processor, which when executed cause the communication device to activate the light source after the motion is detected.

The communication device of claim 1 , wherein to cause the wireless communication interface to transmit the activation signal to the at least one lighting device comprises causing the wireless communication interface to transmit the signal to a bridge device, the bridge device communicating with the at least one lighting device.

6. The communication device of claim 1 , wherein the signal represents at least an identifier associated with the at least one lighting device.

7. A method comprising:

detecting motion by a first electronic device;

generating, by the first electronic device and using a camera, image data representing one or more images;

generating, by the first electronic device and using a microphone, first audio data representing first sound;

transmitting, by the first electronic device, the image data to a second electronic device;

transmitting, by the first electronic device, the first audio data to the second electronic device;

transmitting, by the first electronic device, a signal to a lighting device, the signal associated with controlling a light source

receiving, by the first electronic device, second audio data from the second electronic device; and

outputting, by the first electronic device and using a speaker, second sound represented by the second audio data.

8. The method of claim 7 , further comprising sending an additional signal to the second electronic device, the additional signal indicating that the motion was detected.

9. The method of claim 7 , further comprising:

receiving an additional signal from at least one of the lighting device or an additional lighting device; and

after receiving the additional signal, outputting third sound using the speaker.

10. The method of claim 7 , further comprising:

receiving an additional signal from the second electronic device; and

after receiving the additional signal, outputting third sound using the speaker.

11. The method of claim 7 , further comprising, after the motion is detected, activating an additional light source of the first electronic device.

12. The method of claim 7 , further comprising:

receiving an additional signal from at least one of the lighting device or an additional lighting device; and

after receiving the additional signal, activating an additional light source of the first electronic device.

13. The method of claim 7 , wherein transmitting the signal to the lighting device comprises transmitting, by the first electronic device and to the lighting device, the signal that represents at least an identifier associated with the lighting device and a command to control the light source.

14. A first electronic device comprising:

a wireless communication interface;

a camera;

a microphone;

a speaker;

one or more processors; and

one or more computer-readable media storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform operations comprising:

detecting an object;

generating, using the camera, image data representing one or more images;

generating, using the microphone, first audio data representing first sound;

transmitting, using the wireless communication interface; the image data to a second electronic device;

transmitting, using the wireless communication interface, the first audio data to the second electronic device; transmitting, using the wireless communication interface, a signal to a lighting device, the signal associated with controlling a light source;

receiving, using the wireless communication interface, second audio data from the second electronic device; and

outputting, using the speaker, second sound represented by the second audio data.

The first electronic device of claim 14 , the one or more computer-readable media storing further instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform further operations comprising sending, using the wireless communication interface, an additional signal to the second electronic device, the additional signal indicating that the object was detected.

16. The first electronic device of claim 14 , the one or more computer-readable media storing further instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform further operations comprising:

receiving, using the wireless communication interface, an additional signal from at least one of the lighting device or an additional lighting device; and

outputting, using the speaker, third sound after receiving the additional signal.

17. The first electronic device of claim 14 , the one or more computer-readable media storing further instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform further operations comprising:

receiving, using the wireless communication interface, an additional signal from the second electronic device; and

outputting, using the speaker, third sound after receiving the additional signal.

18. The first electronic device of claim 14 , further comprising an additional light source, wherein the one or more computer-readable media store further instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform further operations comprising causing the additional light source to activate after detecting the object.

19. The first electronic device of claim 14 , wherein the signal represents at least an identifier associated with the lighting device and a command to control the light source.

20. The first electronic device of claim 14 , further comprising an additional light source, and wherein the one or more computer-readable media store further instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform further operations comprising:

receiving, using the wireless communication interface, an additional signal; and

after receiving the additional signal, causing the additional light source to activate.
