Abstract

This document provides methods and materials related to the non-invasive measurement of analytes in blood.

Claims (31)

1. A computer-implemented method, comprising:

obtaining data representing an electrocardiogram (ECG) of a person;

comparing the data representing the ECG of the person to a pre-defined ECG template that corresponds to a normal level of an analyte in a bloodstream of the person;

determining whether a current level of the analyte in the bloodstream of the person is normal based on a result of comparing the data representing the ECG of the person to the pre-defined ECG template; and

generating an alert in response to determining that the current level of the analyte in the bloodstream of the person is not normal.

2. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the analyte is potassium, magnesium, calcium, or glucose.

3. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the analyte is a medication.

4. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the pre-defined ECG template is generated based on the ECG of the person, so as to be a specific template for the person.

5. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein comparing the data representing the ECG of the person to the pre-defined ECG template comprises comparing morphologies of the ECG of the person to morphologies represented by the pre-defined ECG template.

6. A computer-implemented method, comprising:

obtaining data representing an electrocardiogram (ECG) of a person;

comparing the data representing the ECG of the person to a pre-defined ECG template that corresponds to a normal physiologic condition of the person, wherein the pre-defined ECG template is based on ECGs of additional persons other than the person;

determining whether a current physiologic condition of the person is normal based on a result of comparing the data representing the ECG of the person to the pre-defined ECG template; and

generating an alert in response to determining that the current physiologic condition of the person is not normal.

7. A computer-implemented method, comprising:

generating an electrocardiogram ECG template that corresponds to a normal physiologic condition of a person by averaging multiple ECGs of the person corresponding to times when the physiologic condition of the person was normal;

obtaining data representing an ECG of the person;

comparing the data representing the ECG of the person to the ECG template that corresponds to the normal physiologic condition of the person;

determining whether a current physiologic condition of the person is normal based on a result of comparing the data representing the ECG of the person to the ECG template; and

generating an alert in response to determining that the current physiologic condition of the person is not normal.

The computer-implemented method of claim 6 , wherein the pre-defined ECG template corresponds to a normal level of an analyte in a bloodstream of the person, and comparing the data representing the ECG of the person to the pre-defined ECG template comprises assessing a current level of the analyte in the bloodstream of the person.

9. The computer-implemented method of claim 8 , wherein the analyte is potassium, magnesium, calcium, or glucose.

The computer-implemented method of claim 7 , wherein the ECG template corresponds to a normal level of an analyte in a bloodstream of the person, and comparing the data representing the ECG of the person to the pre-defined ECG template comprises assessing a current level of the analyte in the bloodstream of the person.

11. The computer-implemented method of claim 10 , wherein the analyte is potassium, magnesium, calcium, or glucose.

12. A computer-implemented method, comprising:

obtaining data representing an electrocardiogram (ECG) of a person;

comparing the data representing the ECG of the person to a pre-defined ECG template that corresponds to a normal physiologic condition of the person, wherein comparing the data representing the ECG of the person to the pre-defined ECG template comprises determining a numerical or percentage difference in values between the ECG of the person and the pre-defined ECG template;

determining whether a current physiologic condition of the person is normal based on a result of comparing the data representing the ECG of the person to the pre-defined ECG template; and

generating an alert in response to determining that the current physiologic condition of the person is not normal.

13. The computer-implemented method of claim 12 , wherein the pre-defined ECG template corresponds to a normal level of an analyte in a bloodstream of the person, and comparing the data representing the ECG of the person to the pre-defined ECG template comprises assessing a current level of the analyte in the bloodstream of the person.

14. The computer-implemented method of claim 13 , wherein the analyte is potassium, magnesium, calcium, or glucose.
