Golf club weight attachment mechanisms and related methods
Embodiments of golf club weight attachment mechanisms are described herein. In some embodiments, a golf club head comprises a head body with an interior cavity, a shell portion, and a bracket with a weight member coupled to the bracket. In one embodiment, the bracket and the weight member can be configured to be fully contained within the interior cavity. Other examples and related methods are also described herein.
1. A golf club head comprising:
a body comprising a receptacle;
wherein the receptacle comprises:
a bottom wall, a top wall, a toe side wall, a heel side wall, and a receptacle base;
a multi-density weight comprising:
a first weight component comprising a first density; and
a second weight component comprising a second density greater than the first density;
wherein:
the first weight component is coupled to the second weight component at a single surface;
the multi-density weight comprises a top surface comprising the first weight component;
the multi-density weight comprises a base comprising the second weight component;
the multi-density weight comprises a top wall, a bottom wall, a toe side wall and a heel side wall;
the first weight component comprises a tungsten alloy;
the second weight component comprises a tungsten alloy having a weld-adverse trait with respect to the body;
the second weight component comprises at least 60% of a total volume of the multi-density weight; and
the multi-density weight is received into the receptacle.
2. The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein:
the top wall, the bottom wall, the toe side wall and the heel side wall of the multi-density weight comprise the first weight component and the second weight component.
3. The golf club head of claim 2 , wherein:
the top wall of the multi-density weight is configured to abut with the top wall of the receptacle;
the bottom wall of the multi-density weight is configured to abut with the bottom wall of the receptacle;
the toe side wall of the multi-density weight is configured to abut with the toe side wall of the receptacle; and
the heel side wall of the multi-density weight is configured to abut with the heel side wall of the receptacle.
4. The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein:
the multi-density weight comprises a portion of a rear region of the golf club head.
5. The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein the first weight component and the second weight component are sintered at the single surface.
6. The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein the first weight component and the second weight component are coupled at the single surface via a brazed bond.
7. The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein the first weight component and the second weight component are coupled at the single surface via a weld bond.
8. The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein the top surface of the multi-density weight is visible when inserted in the receptacle.
9. The golf club head of claim 3 , wherein the first weight component is welded to the top wall, the bottom wall, the toe side wall, and the heel side wall of the receptacle.
10. The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein the receptacle comprises barbing elements configured to interlock with the multi-density weight when the weight is swedged in the receptacle.
11. A golf club head comprising:
a body comprising a receptacle;
wherein the receptacle comprises:
a top wall, a heel side wall, and a base;
a multi-density weight comprising:
a first weight component comprising a first thickness and a first density; and
a second weight component comprising a second thickness and a second density greater than the first density;
wherein:
the first weight component is coupled to the second weight component at a single surface;
the multi-density weight comprises a top surface comprising the first weight component;
the multi-density weight comprises a base comprising the second weight component;
the multi-density weight comprises a top wall, a bottom wall, a toe side wall and a heel side wall;
the first weight component comprises a tungsten alloy;
the second weight component comprises a tungsten alloy having a weld-averse trait with respect to the body;
the multi-density weight is received into the receptacle;
the multi-density weight forms a portion of a rear region, a portion of a toe region, and a portion of a sole region of the body.
12. The golf club head of claim 11 , wherein the receptacle base, the heel side wall, and the top wall are configured to secure the multi-density weight.
13. The golf club head of claim 11 , wherein the first weight component and the second weight component are sintered at the single surface.
14. The golf club head of claim 11 , wherein the first weight component and the second weight component are coupled at the single surface via a brazed bond.
15. The golf club head of claim 11 , wherein the first weight component and the second weight component are coupled at the single surface via a weld bond.
16. The golf club head of claim 11 , wherein the top surface of the multi-density weight is visible when inserted in the receptacle.
17. The golf club head of claim 11 , wherein the first weight component thickness is different from the second weight component thickness.
18. The golf club head of claim 11 , wherein the receptacle forms more of the rear region and the sole region than the toe region.
19. The golf club head of claim 11 , wherein the multi-density weight comprises a geometry complementary to a geometry of the receptacle.
20. The golf club head of claim 19 , wherein the multi-density weight entirely fills the receptacle.
