Abstract

A thin film transistor is disposed on a substrate. A via insulating layer having a via hole covers the thin film transistor. A pixel electrode is disposed on the via insulating layer and electrically connected to the thin film transistor through the via hole. A first protection layer surrounds the pixel electrode. A pixel-defining layer covers an edge region of the pixel electrode and at least a portion of the first protection layer. The pixel-defining layer includes an opening through which an upper surface of the pixel electrode is exposed. An opposite electrode faces the pixel electrode. An intermediate layer is disposed between the pixel electrode and the opposite electrode.

Claims (24)

1. An organic light-emitting display apparatus, comprising:

a substrate;

a thin film transistor disposed on the substrate;

a via insulating layer that covers the thin film transistor;

a pixel electrode disposed on the via insulating layer and electrically connected to the thin film transistor;

a line disposed on a same layer as the pixel electrode;

a first protection layer that surrounds the pixel electrode, and does not cover the pixel electrode;

a second protection layer disposed along an edge of the line, and that does not cover the line;

a pixel-defining layer that covers an edge region of the pixel electrode and the first protection layer and comprises an opening through which an upper surface of the pixel electrode is exposed;

a line insulating layer that covers the line and the second protection layer, wherein the hue insulating layer is spaced apart from the pixel-defining layer;

an opposite electrode that faces the pixel electrode; and

an intermediate layer disposed between the pixel electrode and the opposite electrode.

2. The organic light-emitting display apparatus of claim 1 ,

wherein the first protection layer is in contact with an side surface of the pixel electrode.

3. The organic light-emitting display apparatus of claim 1 ,

wherein a center of the pixel electrode coincides with a center of the opening.

4. The organic light-emitting display apparatus of claim 1 ,

wherein the first protection layer and the second protection layer each includes a same material.

5. The organic light-emitting display apparatus of claim 1 ,

wherein the first protection layer has a shape of a closed loop comprising an inner lateral surface and an outer lateral surface.

6. The organic light-emitting display apparatus of claim 1 ,

wherein the opposite electrode is in contact with the via insulating layer.

7. The organic light-emitting display apparatus of claim 1 ,

wherein a thickness of the first protection layer is substantially a same as a thickness of the pixel electrode.
