Abstract

An apparatus for an entryway includes: a sheet of material having a top, a bottom, a left side, and a right side, and a sleeve at the top of the sheet of material. The sheet of material has an opening extending to the bottom of the sheet of material between the left side and the right side of the sheet of material from a position below the sleeve. The opening has a left seam and a right seam, wherein a first magnet is positioned at the left seam of the opening and a second magnet is positioned at the right seam of the opening, wherein the first and second magnets are magnetically coupled. A variable-length cross member has a first end and a second end. The cross member is positioned in the sleeve and includes a first securing mechanism at the first end and a second securing mechanism at the second end that secure the cross member respectively to body portions of a first vertical pole and a second vertical pole.

Claims (43)

1. A partition system comprising:

first and second vertical poles;

a partition curtain constructed and arranged to be positioned between a ceiling and a floor by the first and second vertical poles;

a sheet of material constructed and arranged to be applied to a partition curtain, the sheet of material having a top, a bottom, a left side, and a right side, the sheet of material having an opening extending to the bottom of the sheet of material between the left side and the right side of the sheet of material from a position below the top of the sheet of material, the opening having a left seam and a right seam;

a first magnet positioned at the left seam of the opening;

a second magnet positioned at the right seam of the opening, wherein the first and second magnets are magnetically attracted to each other; and

a securing member constructed and arranged to secure the sheet of material to the partition curtain such that the securing member is at a position that is spaced apart from the first and second vertical poles.

2. The partition system of claim 1 , wherein the sheet of material comprises a material selected from a durable material, a ruggedized nylon material, a nylon taffeta, a rip-stop material, a synthetic material, a natural fabric material, a plastic material.

3. The partition system of claim 1 , wherein the first and second magnets each comprise a plurality of magnets positioned along the left or right seam.

4. The partition system of claim 3 , wherein the left and right seams comprise corresponding magnets at corresponding vertical positions and wherein north and south poles of the corresponding magnets are configured to be of opposite polarity so that the corresponding magnets attract each other.

5. The partition system of claim 1 , wherein the first and second magnets comprise an elongated body having a north pole and a south pole.

6. The partition system of claim 1 further comprising a plurality of weights positioned along the bottom of the sheet of material.

7. The partition system of claim 1 , wherein the securing member comprises a plurality of securing members.

8. The partition system of claim 1 , wherein the securing member comprises:

a first strap portion having a longitudinal groove extending in a longitudinal direction, a first end and a second end, the first strap portion including a left tab and a right tab along the longitudinal groove of the first strap portion and protruding in a horizontal direction toward a middle region of the longitudinal groove, inner portions of the left and right tabs of the first strap portion spaced apart from each other; and

at least one third magnet positioned in the longitudinal groove of the first strap portion, the at least one third magnet including a base portion and a neck portion, the base portion being wider than the neck portion.

9. The partition system of claim 1 , wherein the securing member comprises:

a plurality of curtain mounting straps, each of the plurality of curtain mounting straps comprising a first strap portion and a second strap portion that couple to each other with portions of the sheet of material therebetween;

the first strap portion having a longitudinal groove, a first end and a second end, the first strap portion including a left tab and a right tab along the longitudinal groove of the first strap portion and protruding toward a middle region of the longitudinal groove, inner portions of the left and right tabs of the first strap portion spaced apart from each other; and

at least one third magnet positioned in the longitudinal groove of the first strap portion including a base portion and a neck portion, the base portion being wider than the neck portion.

10. The partition system of claim 1 , wherein the securing member secures the sheet of material directly to the partition curtain.

11. The partition system of claim 1 , wherein the securing member removably secures the sheet of material to the partition curtain.

12. A partition system comprising:

a partition curtain constructed and arranged to be positioned between a ceiling and a floor;

a sheet of material constructed and arranged to be applied to a partition curtain, the sheet of material having a top, a bottom, a left side, and a right side, the sheet of material having an opening extending to the bottom of the sheet of material between the left side and the right side of the sheet of material from a position below the top of the sheet of material, the opening having a left seam and a right seam;

a first magnet positioned at the left seam of the opening;

a second magnet positioned at the right seam of the opening, wherein the first and second magnets are magnetically attracted to each other; and

a securing member constructed and arranged to secure the sheet of material directly to the partition curtain such that the sheet of material is secured to the partition curtain exclusively by the securing member.

13. The partition system of claim 12 , wherein the sheet of material comprises a material selected from a durable material, a ruggedized nylon material, a nylon taffeta, a rip-stop material, a synthetic material, a natural fabric material, a plastic material.

14. The partition system of claim 12 , wherein the first and second magnets comprise an elongated body having a north pole and a south pole.

15. The partition system of claim 12 , wherein the first and second magnets each comprise a plurality of magnets positioned along the left or right seam.

16. The partition system of claim 15 , wherein the left and right seams comprise corresponding magnets at corresponding vertical positions and wherein north and south poles of the corresponding magnets are configured to be of opposite polarity so that the corresponding magnets attract each other.

17. The partition system of claim 12 further comprising a plurality of weights positioned along the bottom of the sheet of material.

18. The partition system of claim 12 , wherein the securing member comprises a plurality of securing members.

19. The partition system of claim 12 , wherein the securing member comprises:

a first strap portion having a longitudinal groove extending in a longitudinal direction, a first end and a second end, the first strap portion including a left tab and a right tab along the longitudinal groove of the first strap portion and protruding in a horizontal direction toward a middle region of the longitudinal groove, inner portions of the left and right tabs of the first strap portion spaced apart from each other; and
