Abstract

Methods of manufacturing a display device may increase the light transmittance and/or the high sound transmittance thereof by precisely patterning the auxiliary subpixel opposite electrode of the display element of the display device.

Claims (47)

1. A method of manufacturing a display device, the method comprising:

forming an auxiliary subpixel pixel electrode in a component area of a substrate and a main subpixel pixel electrode in a main display area of the substrate;

forming an auxiliary subpixel intermediate layer on the auxiliary subpixel pixel electrode of the component area and a main subpixel intermediate layer on the main subpixel pixel electrode of the main display area; and

forming a plurality of auxiliary subpixel opposite electrodes on the auxiliary subpixel intermediate layer and a main subpixel opposite electrode on the main subpixel intermediate layer, wherein

each of the plurality of auxiliary subpixel opposite electrodes are connected to the main subpixel opposite electrode,

each of the plurality of auxiliary subpixel opposite electrodes has a shape of a single rectangle in a plan view, and

an end portion of the single rectangle of each of the plurality of auxiliary subpixel opposite electrodes is connected to the main subpixel opposite electrode.

2. A method of manufacturing a display device, the method comprising:

forming an auxiliary subpixel pixel electrode in a component area of a substrate and a main subpixel pixel electrode in a main display area of the substrate;

forming an auxiliary subpixel intermediate layer on the auxiliary subpixel pixel electrode of the component area and a main subpixel intermediate layer on the main subpixel pixel electrode of the main display area; and

forming an auxiliary subpixel opposite electrode on the auxiliary subpixel intermediate layer and a main subpixel opposite electrode on the main subpixel intermediate layer, wherein

the auxiliary subpixel opposite electrode is connected to the main subpixel opposite electrode

the auxiliary subpixel opposite electrode is disposed in the component area, and

the auxiliary subpixel opposite electrode has a shape composed of a single rectangle in a plan view.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein

the component area of the substrate is disposed between the main display area and a peripheral area, and

each of the plurality of auxiliary subpixel opposite electrodes extends to an edge of the peripheral area from the main display area.

4. The method of claim 1 ,

wherein a width of each of the plurality of auxiliary subpixel opposite electrodes is greater than a gap between adjacent ones of the plurality of auxiliary subpixel opposite electrodes.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein a sensor that senses visible light, infrared light, or sound is disposed in the component area.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein a camera is disposed below the component area.

7. The method of claim 5 , wherein no sensor is disposed to correspond to the main display area.

8. The method of claim 1 , wherein the component area has a higher light transmittance than the main display area.

9. The method of claim 8 , wherein the component area has at least 25% greater light transmittance than the main display area.

10. The method of claim 1 , wherein the component area has a higher sound transmittance than the main display area.

11. The method of claim 1 , wherein the component area comprises a transmission area absent of any of the plurality of auxiliary subpixel opposite electrodes.

12. The method of claim 1 , wherein

the forming of the plurality of auxiliary subpixel opposite electrodes occurs in a deposition chamber that includes a deposition source and a mask assembly that includes a patterned mask sheet,

the patterned mask sheet is disposed inside the deposition chamber between the deposition source and the substrate, and

the deposition source supplies a deposition material used to form the plurality of auxiliary subpixel opposite electrodes and the main subpixel opposite electrode, and

the deposition material passes through the patterned mask sheet before being deposited on the substrate.

13. The method of claim 12 , wherein the patterned mask sheet comprises:

a sheet body portion comprising at least one first opening overlapping a frame opening of a mask frame; and

a sheet shielding portion connected to the sheet body portion, wherein

the sheet shielding portion is disposed within the at least one first opening,

the sheet shielding portion comprises a plurality of second openings, and

each of the plurality of second openings has a shape of a single rectangle in a plan view.

14. The method of claim 13 , wherein the sheet shielding portion is connected to the sheet body portion and protrudes from the sheet body portion to the at least one first opening of the sheet body portion.

15. The method of claim 13 , wherein the patterned mask sheet further comprises a sheet connection member configured to connect the sheet body portion to the sheet shielding portion.

16. The method of claim 13 , wherein

the sheet shielding portion comprises a sheet shielding rib disposed between adjacent ones of the plurality of second openings,

a width of each of the plurality of second openings is greater than a width of the sheet shielding rib,

the width of the sheet shielding rib is about 100 μm or less, and

the width of the sheet shielding rib being large enough so that neighboring ones of the plurality of auxiliary subpixel opposite electrodes formed on the substrate are completely separated from each other.

17. The method of claim 16 , wherein

the patterned mask sheet further includes a rim portion disposed between the first opening and each of the plurality of second openings,

the rim portion has a smaller width than the width of the sheet shielding rib, the width of the rim portion being sufficiently small so that the main subpixel opposite electrode formed on the substrate is connected to each of the plurality of auxiliary subpixel opposite electrodes.
