Abstract

A functional layer-equipped separator for an electrochemical device includes a separator substrate and a functional layer for an electrochemical device disposed on at least one surface of the separator substrate. The functional layer for an electrochemical device contains inorganic particles and a particulate polymer. A surface of the functional layer for an electrochemical device has a maximum height Sz of 2.5 μm or more. The functional layer for an electrochemical device includes one or more protrusions each containing the particulate polymer at a surface thereof.

Claims (17)

1. A functional layer-equipped separator for an electrochemical device comprising: a separator substrate; and a functional layer for an electrochemical device disposed on at least one surface of the separator substrate, wherein

the functional layer for an electrochemical device contains inorganic particles and a particulate polymer,

a surface of the functional layer for an electrochemical device has a maximum height Sz of 2.5 μm or more,

the functional layer for an electrochemical device includes one or more protrusions each containing the particulate polymer at a surface thereof, and

the surface of the functional layer for an electrochemical device has an arithmetic mean height Sa of 0.2 μm or more and 0.9 μm or less.

2. The functional layer-equipped separator for an electrochemical device according to claim 1 , wherein the surface of the functional layer for an electrochemical device has a maximum height Rz of 1.6 μm or more.

3. The functional layer-equipped separator for an electrochemical device according to claim 1 , wherein a volume ratio of the inorganic particles and the particulate polymer in the functional layer for an electrochemical device, expressed as inorganic particles/particulate polymer, is not less than 1.1 and not more than 2.1.

4. The functional layer-equipped separator for an electrochemical device according to claim 1 , wherein the particulate polymer has a degree of swelling in electrolyte solution of not less than a factor of 1 and not more than a factor of 15.

5. The functional layer-equipped separator for an electrochemical device according to claim 1 , wherein the particulate polymer satisfies 1) or 2):

1) The particulate polymer has a glass-transition temperature of not lower than 15° C. and not higher than 90° C.;

2) The particulate polymer has a melting point of 50° C. or higher.

6. The functional layer-equipped separator for an electrochemical device according to claim 1 , wherein the particulate polymer includes an epoxy group-containing unsaturated monomer unit.

7. The functional layer-equipped separator for an electrochemical device according to claim 6 , wherein proportional content of the epoxy group-containing unsaturated monomer unit in the particulate polymer is not less than 0.5 mass % and not more than 30.0 mass %.

8. An electrochemical device comprising the functional layer-equipped separator for an electrochemical device according to claim 1 .

9. The functional layer-equipped separator for an electrochemical device according to claim 1 , wherein the particulate polymer includes an aromatic vinyl monomer unit, wherein a proportional content of the aromatic vinyl monomer unit in the particulate polymer is not less than 30 mass % and not more than 95 mass %.

10. The functional layer-equipped separator for an electrochemical device according to claim 1 , wherein the surface of the functional layer for an electrochemical device has an arithmetic mean height Sa of 0.2 μm or more and 0.8 μm or less.

11. The functional layer-equipped separator for an electrochemical device according to claim 1 , wherein the surface of the functional layer for an electrochemical device has a maximum height Sz of 2.5 μm or more and 15.0 μm or less.
