Abstract

Systems and methods are provided herein for determining reduction of interest in a content series and to increasing the interest upon such determination. This may be accomplished by a device monitoring consumption of a content series to determine a pattern of consumption. The device may identify a change in the pattern of consumption indicative of a reduction of interest and determine a reason for the reduction in interest. Based on the reason for the reduction of interest, the device may provide an operation, such as a spoiler, to increase interest in the content series.

Claims (36)

1 . A method comprising:

receiving data associated with consumption of a content item, the consumption associated with a profile;

determining a pattern of consumption of the content item associated with the profile;

determining, based on the pattern of consumption, an expected amount of consumption associated with the profile during a time period;

determining a change in the pattern of consumption during the time period indicative of a reduction of interest in the content item by determining that a first amount of consumption during the time period is less than the expected amount of consumption during the time period;

identifying contextual information related to the content item based, at least in part, on the change in the pattern of consumption, wherein the contextual information comprises information about the content item during the time period when the change in the pattern of consumption was determined;

identifying a reason for the reduction of interest based at least in part on the contextual information and the change in the pattern of consumption; and

generating for display a notification regarding the content item based, at least in part, on the identified reason for the reduction of interest.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the reason for the reduction of interest is stored in at least one memory.

3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the memory corresponds to random-access memory.

4 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the memory is part of a user equipment device.

5 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the memory is part of a cloud-based storage.

6 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the memory is part of a gaming consoles.

7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the notification is stored in at least one memory.

8 . The method of claim 7 , wherein the memory corresponds to random-access memory.

9 . The method of claim 7 , wherein the memory is part of a user equipment device.

10 . The method of claim 7 , wherein the memory is part of a cloud-based storage.

11 . The method of claim 7 , wherein the memory is part of a gaming consoles.

12 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the content item corresponds to at least one of one or more videos, one or more movies, one or more audio books, one or more podcasts, one or more playlists, and/or one or more songs.

13 . An apparatus comprising:

control circuitry; and

at least one memory including computer program code for one or more programs, the at least one memory and the computer program code configured to, with the control circuitry, cause the apparatus to perform at least the following:

receive data associated with consumption of a content item, the consumption associated with a profile;

determine a pattern of consumption of the content item associated with the profile;

determine, based on the pattern of consumption, an expected amount of consumption associated with the profile during a time period;

determine a change in the pattern of consumption during the time period indicative of a reduction of interest in the content item by determining that a first amount of consumption during the time period is less than the expected amount of consumption during the time period;

identify contextual information related to the content item based, at least in part, on the change in the pattern of consumption, wherein the contextual information comprises information about the content item during the time period when the change in the pattern of consumption was determined;

identify a reason for the reduction of interest based at least in part on the contextual information and the change in the pattern of consumption; and

generate for display a notification regarding the content item based, at least in part, on the identified reason for the reduction of interest.

14 . The apparatus of claim 13 , wherein the reason for the reduction of interest is stored in the at least one memory.

15 . The apparatus of claim 13 , wherein the notification is stored in the at least one memory.

16 . The apparatus of claim 13 , wherein the content item corresponds to at least one or more videos.

17 . The apparatus of claim 13 , wherein the content item corresponds to at least one or more audio books.

18 . The apparatus of claim 13 , wherein the content item corresponds to at least one or more podcasts.

19 . The apparatus of claim 13 , wherein the content item corresponds to at least one of one or more playlists.

20 . The apparatus of claim 13 , wherein the content item corresponds to at least one or more songs.
