Abstract

Hats including hair ports are disclosed herein. One hat includes a first portion, a second portion, an opening positioned at a rear portion of the hat between the first portion and the second portion, and a coupling mechanism. The coupling mechanism includes a first component positioned on the first portion and a second component positioned on the second portion, in which the first component and the second component of the coupling mechanism are configured to detachably engage each other across the opening between the first portion and the second portion, and a first hair port and a second hair port are created in the opening at the rear portion of the hat when the first and second components of the coupling mechanism are engaged with each other across the opening between the first portion and the second portion.

Claims (73)

1 . A hat, comprising:

a first portion;

a second portion;

an opening positioned at a rear portion of the hat between the first portion and the second portion; and

a coupling mechanism comprising:

a first component positioned on the first portion, and

a second component positioned on the second portion,

wherein:

the first component and the second component of the coupling mechanism are configured to detachably engage each other across the opening between the first portion and the second portion to dynamically modify a quantity of hair ports at the rear portion of the hat,

a first hair port is created in the opening at the rear portion of the hat when the first and second components of the coupling mechanism are not engaged with each other across the opening between the first portion and the second portion, and

a second hair port and a third hair port that are smaller than the first hair port are created in the opening at the rear portion of the hat when the first and second components of the coupling mechanism are engaged with each other across the opening between the first portion and the second portion.

2 . The hat of claim 1 , wherein:

the hat further comprises a top portion and a bottom portion;

the second hair port is formed by the opening between the top portion and the engaged first and second components of the coupling mechanism; and

the third hair port is formed by the opening between the bottom portion and the engaged first and second components of the coupling mechanism.

3 . The hat of claim 2 , wherein:

the coupling mechanism comprises a clasp/loop configuration;

the first component comprises one of a clasp or a loop; and

the second component comprises the other one of the clasp or the loop.

4 . The hat of claim 2 , wherein:

the coupling mechanism comprises a hook/loop configuration;

the first component comprises one of a hook or a loop; and

the second component comprises the other one of the hook or the loop.

5 . The hat of claim 2 , wherein:

the coupling mechanism comprises a button/aperture configuration;

the first component comprises one of a button or a aperture; and

the second component comprises the other one of the button or the aperture.

6 . The hat of claim 2 , wherein:

the coupling mechanism comprises a magnetic configuration;

the first component comprises one of a magnet or a magnetic material; and

the second component comprises the other one of the magnet or the magnetic material.

7 . The hat of claim 1 , further comprising a strap coupling the first portion and the second portion across the opening at a bottom of the hat.

8 . The hat of claim 7 , wherein the strap comprises an adjustable strap configured to adjust one of a circumference of the hat, a volume of the hat, and both the circumference and the volume of the hat.

9 . The hat of claim 1 , wherein the hat includes a ball cap.

10 . The hat of claim 9 , further comprising a strap coupling the first portion and the second portion across the opening at a bottom of the hat.

11 . A hat, comprising:

a first portion;

a second portion;

an opening positioned at a rear portion of the hat between the first portion and the second portion; and

a plurality of coupling mechanisms, wherein each coupling mechanism comprises:

a first component positioned on the first portion, and

a second component positioned on the second portion,

wherein:

the first component and the second component of each coupling mechanism are configured to detachably engage each other across the opening between the first portion and the second portion to dynamically modify a quantity of hair ports at the rear portion of the hat,

at least three hair ports are created in the opening at the rear portion of the hat when the first and second components of at least two coupling mechanisms are engaged with each other across the opening between the first portion and the second portion,

a first hair port is created in the opening at the rear portion of the hat when none of the first and second components of the plurality of coupling mechanisms are engaged with each other across the opening between the first portion and the second portion,

a second hair port and a third hair port are created in the opening at the rear portion of the hat when a first pair of first and second components of the plurality of coupling mechanism are engaged with each other across the opening between the first portion and the second portion, and

a fourth hair port is created in the opening at the rear portion of the hat when the first pair of the first and second components and a second pair of the first and second components of the plurality of coupling mechanism are engaged with each other across the opening between the first portion and the second portion.

12 . The hat of claim 11 , wherein:

the hat further comprises a top portion and a bottom portion;

the second hair port is formed by the opening between the top portion and a first engaged pair of first and second components of a first coupling mechanism of the plurality of coupling mechanisms;

the fourth hair port is formed by the opening between the bottom portion and a second engaged pair of first and second components of a second coupling mechanism of the plurality of coupling mechanisms; and

the third hair port is formed by the opening between the first engaged pair of first and second components of the first coupling mechanism and the second engaged pair of first and second components of the second coupling mechanism.

13 . The hat of claim 12 , wherein:

each coupling mechanism of the plurality of coupling mechanisms comprises a clasp/loop configuration;

each first component comprises one of a clasp or a loop; and

each second component comprises the other one of the clasp or the loop.

14 . The hat of claim 12 , wherein:

each coupling mechanism of the plurality of coupling mechanisms comprises a hook/loop configuration;
