Guarded coaxial cable assembly
A guarded coaxial cable assembly includes a micro-coaxial cable and a metal rail for protecting the micro-coaxial cable from harmful compression.
1 . A guarded micro-coaxial cable comprises:
a non-conducting and flexible outer jacket;
the jacket having a cross-section including two opposed sides that are parallel and longer than adjoining sides;
about equidistant from the two opposed sides, a jacket centerline;
within the jacket a 75 ohm micro-coaxial cable capable of 90 degree bends for carrying radio frequency signals of upto 2150 MHz;
within the jacket a metal rail that protects the micro-coaxial cable from harmful compression;
a window sash or a door; and,
the window sash or door mating with a frame;
wherein the rails resist micro-coaxial compression as the opposed sides are squeezed between the sash or door and the frame.
2 . A guarded coaxial cable comprising:
a 75 ohm micro-coaxial cable having a center conductor, the micro-coaxial cable capable of 90 degree bends for carrying radio frequency signals of upto 2150 MHz;
the micro-coaxial cable extending between metal rails;
an external polymer jacket enclosing a length of the rails and micro-coaxial cable;
the jacket having first and second generally opposed surfaces for bearing transverse loads; and,
the guarded coaxial cable substantially retains deformations as it makes 90 degree bends around obstructions.
